Dexter Season Premiere Date: Announced! Early!
Showtime President David Nevins delivered surprising news today at the Television Critics Association winter press tour:
Dexter Season 8 will premiere three months earlier than usual, on Sunday June 30, leading into the network's new drama, Ray Donovan.
Although unconfirmed today by Nevins, the eighth season is expected to represent the final run of this long-running hit. It will be comprised of 12 episodes and showrunner Scott Buck has teased that it will focus on the relationship between Deb and Dexter.
No surprise considering the events that concluded Dexter Season 7.
Casting calls have also gone out for two recurring characters: a private investigator and a psychiatrist who profiles criminals.

With talk that the final series will focus on Debra and Dexter it will be interesting to see how hypocritical the characters get ! Debra as a police officer should jail both Dexter and Hannah - but only chose the latter ! Debra having killed LaGuerta now fits Dexter's code - but then so did Hannah. If the latter returns (I'm guessing she must return to face Dexter "justice")who will he kill ? He loves both Hannah and Debra !

Michael C. Hall was reluctant enough to want to do two more seasons to begin with, so I doubt he'll want to return for a 9th (and possibly 10th season if they wanted to milk that). Futhermore, with Michael getting a million an episode and the network possibly being desperate enough to bring Dexter back, how much would he want then?
Either way, I'm excited for June! Can't wait to see Dexter back as early as the summer schedule!
