Why is it that whenever the brothers fight there are people who whine about their relationship being broken or assassinated? That the show is terrible and it's over and they hate it. Guys. Sam and Dean have been fighting since season 1. This isn't even their worst fight. They don't always see eye to eye, and that is what makes their relationship interesting and dynamic. This is the most interest I've had in their relationship since swan song. Quit your bellyaching.
Supernatural actually feels like it has heart again in season 8, unlike season 7 where much of it felt like it was going through the motions with no real tension. Sam has character again. Dean is more than an angsty alcoholic again. Sorry they're not cardboard cutouts attached at the hip anymore.
Personally, for me, the writing this season is a VAST improvement. I love everything about it.
I LOVE the Trans. Love Castiel, and I'm excited and nervous to discover his storyline (okay, i'm terrified. Do NOT kill him, Car

Oh my gosh, I'm so excited. The character development this season has truly blown me away.
First of all, the Dean/Cas bond...I will never, ever tire of it, and only want more. Always. All the time. The fact that Cas is going to Dean for help, unlike the last time he was in trouble and decided against it, is so awesome! I hope that one day Cas will tell Dean that he did go to him that time...it will only bring them closer. This love they have between them makes me crazy and happy and tearful all at the same time! And Dean...well, Dean is finally opening up to Cas about his own feelings. "I need you," "I'm not leaving without you," "TALK TO ME." etc. Dean is growing emotionally, and it's FANTASTIC!
Sam... I do hope that he can find true happiness some day. It's a pity that this Amelia thing is doomed to fail. I really do wish that he could have the kind of life he always wanted. I'm excited to see where they take his story, and I hope it's not too tragic.

This season is awesome, it's been dubbed season gr8 by the true fans, it's been praised as being the best season in years, and even has the ratings to prove it.
Carver, you are doing awesome, please keep truckin'.

It is unforgiveable what Carver has done to Sam Winchester.
Martin was mentally fragile, so of all the hunters Sam and Dean know (and they must know many, even though the show never shows them - hey, there's a storyline for you, Carver) he chooses Martin to accompany him to hunt Benny. Of course it was going to end badly. An unforgivable writing decision of Carver.
As for Amelia - I can barely hold back my rage. THAT storyline has to go. Hate Amelia, her father, Don, and even the dog. Can't stand the Trans either.
My God, this season has been atrocious, but Carver's writing of Sam and Dean has been abysmal. An abysmal season. It might improve, but I doubt it. Not even Cas can save this show now. Thank God for Grimm.

Sam and Dean need to reconnect with their brotherhood. Season 8 has destroyed their relationship. Sam didn't even bother to find out where Dean was, and didn't seem to care when Dean came back! What's the idea? It was all very flat, and if there is a reason for this, then there should be a hint as to the reason. Season 8 is very slow, and the myth-arc is not coming together. Also, "Bitten" was a terrible episode (please don't do that again). Also, no more romances. Hope Sam's choice is not Amelia (this will be the show's demise if Amelia doesn't go).

Unfortunately S8 is not good, which is sad because I love the show. The first 5 seasons were great, but from S6 onwards it failed with Dean going off with Lisa and Ben (who he barely even knew) and failing to get Sam and Adam out of the cage. Poor Adam is still down there! The Grandpa Campbell story also ruined S6. Lisa and Ben took up space at the end of S6, when we wanted to see Crowley and Cas. Cas is wonderful and deserved a better story than the Emmanuel one in S7. Also, Cas wouldn't have killed humans when he was "God" (this made him look unsympathetic). His issue was the war in heaven, not against humanity. S7 failed to show enough Leviathan, and they weren't scary. Dick Roman was hot, but we hardly saw him. Killing Bobby and bringing him back as a vengeful ghost was unforgivable. Jim Beaver deserved a better end to his wonderful contribution to Supernatural than that. Bring back the hunters, ghosts, and scary things. Resurrect Gabriel, Balthazar and the sexy Raphael. And no mor

Jon, read my comment again. I said that Sam has written badly since Season 4.
Carver is continuing the bad writing for Sam. I will never, ever forgive Carver for the Martin storyline. Sam leaving the mentally Martin alone to hunt Benny, which led to his death, has destroyed the character of Sam completely. Sam would never do that. The Martin story and the unspeakable Samelia storyline has destroyed Sam and is killing Supernatural. Jared deserves better.
What Carver is doing to Season 8 is unforgiveable. He is destroying Supernatural, and God help me, if Amelia gets pregnant I'll shut the door on this show forever. Season G8? Not in a million years. And I thought Sera Gamble did damage. Boy, was I mistaken.

Catgirl, Sam has never say that he doesn't want a normal life. Sam's character has been destroyed since season 4. Honestly, I wasn't expecting that Sam was going to get a normal life on season 8, but I also wasn't expecting that he would betray Dean for a demonic bitch on season 4. People are taking hatred on Carver, but Sam's character has been destroyed since Kripke time.

Adding to my comment -
What Carver should have done was two separate storylines, one for Dean fighting for his life in Purgatory, one for Sam fighting against the odds getting his brother out. That would have been a "mature" storyline for Sam, instead of the "what's wrong with Sam" that Sera wrote.
It would have shown the brothers as independent, yet united. As the Winchesters should be. It also would have been exciting and more in keeping with what Supernatural is about.
It is not Season G8, far from it. Lift your game Caver. You've been a massive disappointment.

I'm SO disappointed with Season 8, so much so I have almost given up and if Carver doesn't improve I'll kiss this show goodbye. It has deteriorated since Sera Gamble, and I thought she was bad. Carver has assassinated this show. I'm close to hating S8. What a mess.
Sam has been poorly written since Season 4 but now his character has been completely ruined. He has been written as a selfish dick. He has NOT wanted a normal life since Season 4 - Carver pulled that out of his backside. Sam was supposed to "mature" this season? What happened? We get a whiny selfish Sam. Poor Jared. He deserves better.
And what happened to Purgatory? Great story there, cast aside in favour of a tedious boring soap. So much for a strong Dean story. Over before it started. Jensen deserves better.
Please please get RID of unlikeable whiny Amelia. Just get rid of her, I don't care how. I do not want to hear or see her again, ever. It is Supernatural, NOT Soapernatural.

Lets hope this signals the end of the tedious Amelia and Dog storyline, and we never see them again. This season has been so disappointing. Both Sam and Dean are out of character, particularly Sam.
Back to basics please -ie scary monsters, hunting things and saving people. Cease and desist with the soap opera. No more tiger moms or teenage prophets either. The Trans are irritating ("mom, stop the Holy Water, I'm not a demon, mom!). We want intelligent storylines, good dialogue, and Sam and Dean in character. What was point of purgatory? Potential story left by the wayside.

I am so glad that both Castiel and Dean seem to really be learning to communicate with each other this season! I'm extremely nervous, because I hate seeing Cas in pain. I also know this choice will be really hard for Sam, since he's longed for a normal life since he was a kid, and hasn't truly fallen in love with anyone since Jess. I also hope to see Cas again, sooner than later.
I'm loving this season so much!

December 27th, 2012 11:24 PM
This season is about helping the relationships in the show (and by extension, that of Sam and Dean)to grow, mature, and become more healthy. Because as much as I love having the boys be around each other all the time and feel like all they have is each other, if you really think about it that's not what makes a good relationship. They need to hear each other, have lives and relationships outside of each other, and feel comfortable enough in their bond that they can branch out and not depend on each other for absolutely everything all the time. I still want them to be together and solve cases, but I just want them to also be their own persons while doing it.

I just wanted to be a voice of reason here. I'm a Sam and Dean fan, I always will be. I care deeply about them as characters and what they mean to each other. The show will always be about the brothers, as far as I'm concerned. They've had tension this season, but in my opinion it's about them finding their way back to each other.
Sam and Dean will always be the heart of the show. I'm proud to be a brother fan, to the end.

I honestly cannot wait for 8x10, I've really missed tuning in every Wednesday to see what's in store for the boys this time. Though to be fair, I am horrifically terrified for Cas from the trailer back on 8x09, I know it's going to be handled well, I just hate see Cas so frightened. But as others mentioned, he's going to Dean for help, which really makes me happy and only shows to further the positive steps their relationship has taken this season. I'm just beyond happy with how Carver and the whole team has been developing them in season gr8, and I love that they're trying to work out their issues and above all are finally *communicating*. It's just too bad Cas won't be sticking around for more eps this season, I love it when all the boys are together best: Sam, Dean, *and* Cas.
And on Sam, I personally just adore Amelia and I would really love to see them together more and maybe get a chance at being happy together. But I also can't really see Sammy leaving the life entirely *just*

I can't wait for January 16th! I'm worried for Cas, but at least he's going to do the right thing and ask Dean for help this time. Castiel is one of the main characters, no matter if he's in every episode or not, and team free will should stick together.
The Sam and Amelia plot is also very interesting, and since Amelia makes Sam happy, I wish for her to survive and possibly become Sam's endgame. As for Dean and Castiel's relationship, I love the way it's being developed. Regardless of whether it's on a road to romance or not, I'm incredibly happy that they've grown so close. All individual characters have gotten development, which is also something that I have been glad to notice.
I very much appreciate the way Carver has brought Dean and Sam's trust issues to the surface, because now they can finally start fixing them. Character development and wonderful plot all around, season gr8!

but in regards to Amelia. She has been said as being a lost soul. So maybe her poor attitude has something to do with her backstory. But until her attitude gets fixed and she doesn't treat Sam right. Just thought of something. I am not worried. This episode 10 which was filmed months ago. They are just about to film episode 15, and Dean and Sam and still together. Which I am glad with. I think the show is more special when Dean and sam are together, the chemistry of theirs is what I am drawn too. I don't think Amelia is gone for good right now. I am guessing she is in episode 14 because the actress was still in Van or tweeted about being in Van. I think if there was chemistry between her and Sam and they connected then I would like her. But almost every scene she is with Sam is kind of very rude and just vile to him. Can't wait to see what Carver will bring to Sam and Dean's journey next.

I really hope that, if Amelia really gives Sam an ultimatum, it won't be because writers are looking for a way to get rid of her. (I think Sam will have a few episode until he has to give his final answer. And I want him to be completely honest with her, I want him to tell him about being a hunter, about his parents, the angels, Lucifer... If she's his endgame, she needs to know to support him, just like he'll support her.)
So far I really like the season. I really enjoy the extended cast and the storylines. I'm sad the Purgatory flashbacks are over, but I'm looking forward what will happen with the new relationships the brothers made in the present and the conflicts ahead. Plus, I want to know what Naomi is really up to, and what will Crowley do.
Season gr8 will probably become my favorite.

I am just a bit disappointed how some people in this fandom somehow forget what this show is about. Sure the show is always about the Winchesters but it is also about their surroundings. There are other people helping the brothers to deal with their problems, helping them through each difficult situations. Without them, the show would have no layers and no in depth meaning.
I read through the comment section and see hate concerning about Cas which I find it very hard to understand. Castiel is a character that is customize for Dean, he enhances Dean's character development in a good way, he makes Dean has more layer, allowing us to see a different facet of Dean. And season 8 is doing a great job here, we see how Dean trying so hard to fix the problems, seeing him changes himself into a better person with open hearts, not afraid to show emotions, a whole new Dean. And same thing goes to Cas, he changes by asking for help. Their relationship is developing as we speak, and since how
