They need to fix Season 8. The writers have run out of ideas. H8 the Trans and flashbacks. Some fanfiction is good, and the writers could hold a competition for fans to create a monster. Or, a competition whereby fans can submit a short story and the writers could turn it into an episode. I think some fans had better purgatory stories than the one we got. S7 was rather lame, but S8 imo is rather unwatchable. I agree that they have ruined Sam's character. He is supposed to be the star of the show, and didn't even stop Leviathan or save annoying Kevin or look for Dean. Hoping S9 is spectacular.

I don't hate Cas and I don't think the majority of fans hate Cas. But he isn't the star. It's the shippers (both Wincest and Destiel) I have the problem with. Your ship IS NOT YOUR CANON. Dean is NOT in "love" with Cas. Keep that crap to tumbler and fanfiction.
As another poster said, nothing has actually happened in Season 8. If there's a story out there, Carver had better get moving. Valid criticism - Season 8 is very, very poor and a great disappointment.

1) I don't know what alternate universe the Castiel haters live in where they believe the vast majority of SPN fans hate Castiel, but in this universe the fans love him.
2) Lots of comments so far this season about how "unreal" Sam's memories of Amelia are. Maybe there is a reason for that. How about this? What if there is no Amelia? That Sam's memories of her are nothing but another hallucination created by Lucifer? I may be in the minority on this, but I don't believe Lucifer was just a figment of Sam's imagination last season. Even though Lucifer is supposedly locked the the Cage, he may still be able to influence things to some degree. And the Naomi character is still a complete mystery. SPN has thrown us curve balls in the past and hit us with the unexpected. We may be in for some big surprises in the rest of the season.

jnreeves, let the professionals handle it? Yeah, we are, and look what we've got, A SOAP. I loathe Amelia.
And Castiels' trenchcoat, this show is called SUPERNATURAL, not Angels & Demons. While I like Cas and Crowley, they're getting old. Heaven and Hell is getting old and if we get so Seasons 9 and 10, I hope we get a new theme.
Cas is not the star, by the way.
It is Sam and Dean who are the stars. Cas is just their friend. I hope they the writers get their crap together, dump Amelia ASAP and we can get back to saving people, hunting things. Alas, things are not looking good.

Hoping that the angels make a comeback. Samandriel is a good new character. Love Castiel, as always. Don't care for this prophet Kevin. Should have shown purgatory more, and Dean should have hugged Cas when he came back to earth. They need to show more Cas. Also, why is Sam boring now, he is supposed to be star of the show. Also, he needs to cut his hair. I agree that Amelia is a boring character. I want to see the angels and demons, and the Impala. I want Lucifer to return and fight with Crowley.

@Help this show. I agree. SPN has become a soapie, including using the cloudy lens to make it "romantic." The Amelia storyline is boring. You make a good point when you say fans are too scared to criticize, and that they believe loyalty to a show means they have to "like it". S8 is not great. I hope it improves. I hope it won't be cancelled. True fans will want to see the show improve, and to continue into S10 and S11. True fans want a great show, not a boring soapie. Some fans have written good comments, hope SPN's writers take note.

Some think that SPN fans dislike female characters. This is untrue. Rather, some women are miscast, such as Lisa and Amelia. Lisa & Dean did not look like a couple, and there was no spark, despite Jensen's good acting. Amelia is unsuited to Sam, and was a bitch in the beginning. Other females, like Atropos in S6 should have been older, and a seamstress, not a librarian. Eve was good, but was too young, they could have got an older virgin. SPN needs female characters, but they have to be "right", and not bitchy. They have to be central to the show, with purpose. Mrs. Tran is most annoying.

I agree with the criticisms of S8. Sad to see it deteriorate, and I hope they won't cancel it. S8 sux largely because Sam is poorly written. Remember Mystery Spot, and when Dean was going to Hell? Remember Sam's concern for Dean? I, too, fail to see the magic spark between Sam and Amelia, and hate the way Sam is changing lightbulbs. Please writers, give us some scary stories. No more "extra" characters that take up time like the witch who Tiger Mom hired, and no more Amelia or her dad. I also feel frustrated with uninteresting characters like Kevin & mom. I agree, "Bitten" was crap.

It is not Supernatural anymore. It's Super Soap. Hey Carver, change the title cards to big soapy bubbles, why don't you, and stop misleading the viewers.
Good to see that there's clear thinking individuals that are not pretending to like this soapy crap just to be "good fans."
Let's hope Carver gets the messages and fixes the damage he's caused. I doubt it though. He just cares about the soap now, not the supernatural. He is going to drag the Samelia crap on and on and on.............

@Jon. You are entitled to enjoy S8, as everyone is entitled to their opinion. IMO S8 is not good. Team Fee Will was Dean, Sam, Cas & Bobby. It is only Dean & Cas now. Sam is NOT showing Free Will IMO, he is badly written and is having a boring non-relationship with a woman who doesn't suit him.(This is reality TV, fixing sinks). They could have paired him up with someone interesting if they wanted a romance. He is not "doing what he wants", he just looks bored! Also, he was uninterested when Dean returned from purgatory. IMO Kevin & Garth are awful, and nothing has happened yet! BTW I DETEST reality TV!!!!

Supernatural would be heading for cancelation if it had not been changed to Wednesday. Arrow is the ONLY thing responsible for increased ratings, and if Arrow begins to suck, Supernatural is finished. I don't think I care much at this point.
Season 8 sucks. There is so much wrong with it. Team Free Will where? Don't talk crap. EVERYONE is written out of character, yeah, even Cas. Sam and Dean are being dicks to each other, this is NOT character development. It's a sign of Carver just faffing about. Stop sucking up. Carver. DOES NOT deserve praise for this mess. If you don't criticize, this show won't improve. Just saying. Probably too late to fix up this mess anyway. Pity. This show was fantastic once. Not anymore.

Well believe it or not, I like this season. If don't like it, easy...stop watching. Season 8 ratings have rise..season 7 ratings were so low..this season is not perfect, but none season has been perfect. If you're looking for something perfect, go watch reality TV.

H8 Season H8. H8 Amelia. Also, what happened to the Archangels? Cas only killed Raphael, so there are others left. Why wasn't Kevin saved by them when Crowley caught him and the future prophets? H8 Kevin so I hope they wrap up his story ASAP. H8 the way Bobby has been replaced by Garth. They ruined Bobby's exit by turning him into a ghost in S7. H8 the whole tiresome Amelia story. Bring back Sam & Dean's bond. Stop the Amelia, Kevin and Garth crap. "Bitten" was unwatchable. Bring back Gabriel, Lucifer, and demons. H8 the way Sam didn't look for Dean, and that he just changed lightbulbs.

S8 is far from gr8. It is failing to keep me interested, which is sad as it is my favourite show. The Trans and Amelia have ruined it. The prophet should have been older, and intriguing. There was no need for a mom character. The very uninteresting romance between Sam and Amelia has put me off. The fill in characters such as Amelia's dad, husband and the motel clerk should never have been in the show. That money could even be used to do more special effects. I liked Cas's wings and bright eyes. They should show Crowley's horns, and when angels fight we should see wings. The show has lost its excitement. We need hunters and monsters.

It seems the only good thing in this episode is that Samandriel gets rescued. As for Sam's choice, it shouldn't have come to this. Amelia is married (and crap storyline about her husband being killed in the war, then she got a phone call from him saying he's alive). Sam's choice should be to hunt things and save lives. Hope his choice is over and done with quickly and we never see boring Amelia again. Sam could get a hunter girlfriend who is dynamic and has something in common with him. In S8 he doesn't care for Dean, and even wanted to kill Benny, when in canon he was "the freak" who gave monsters a chance.

I agree - worst season ever. Agree that the Trans are terrible, and Amelia is boring. Where is the magic spark between her and Sam - I can't see it. A very boring "romance". She and Sam have nothing in common. I too hate to see Sam fixing sinks and working at a motel. I agree that "Bitten" was the worst episode. I like the way Cas and Dean are friends again, but I think they overdid the evil Cas thing in S7. Cas needs a good storyline because he is an interesting character. Hate the way they killed off Bobby. They need to save Supernatural - bring back the brotherly relationship.

S8 is the worst season. What on earth was "Bitten"? That was abyssmal. Kevin is whiny, and his mom annoying. The writers have no respect for the fans' intelligence. How did mom get the large demon into the boot of her car? Respect the fans and keep the stories sensible. No more water-pistols. A few comedic episodes are nice, but the bulk should be serious. The brothers' relationship is gone - Sam "wanted a normal life when Dean is missing?" Get real. "Normal" means fixing lightbulbs and getting the most boring girl friend ever? Cas and Dean are good, but bring back the brotherly banter.

S8 awesome by true fans?? Joan, how can you think this? I am a true fan, and S8 isn't even Superntural, but a soapie, with teenage nonsense. Nothing has happened yet, except for Cas and Dean becoming closer (which is good). Sam is flat, Kevin and mom annoying, and Amelia is boring. Purgatory was a let down, and Benny's character could have been introduced by another means. Samandriel is lovely, and Crowley is fantastic, but where is the thrill and excitement from the earlier seasons? Bring back hunters, ghosts, demons. Team Free Will is gone, Bobby unfortunately gone, and Sam is fixing sinks and changing lightbulbs.

Joan, I don't know what you're talking about, but I assume you're from Tumblr. I don't see any hate here but genuine concern and genuine grievances. I think, despite what many say here, fans are not happy with this season. How could ANYONE be interested in Amelia over Purgatory?
TRUE fans want Supernatural to improve. It's not doing a kindness to praise a show that's going downhill. And I agree with the other poster - you can be both a brother fan and like Cas. What's wrong with that? I'm sick of "fans" crappy Wincest/Destiel nonsense. It's ruining this show and is not canon. Supernatural needs united loyal Winchester brothers, with Cas as a helpful side kick. NO MORE SOAP. Also, at this stage, it's impossible to tell where Carver is going with this season. Move the story along, for heaven's sake. Naomi should be playing a bigger part by now. I'm more interested in her than Amelia, that's for sure.
I also agree that it's only Arrow responsible for the "improved" ratings. Supern

Well, in my opinion it's not forced or contrived. They've been burying their feelings and not talking about their problems properly for well over a season. I want to see them actually work through their issues, and in order to do that the issues have to bubble to the surface. Dean's trust issues, Sam's longing for independence and a life outside hunting - these are the same issues we've dealt with in the past that are being magnified this season. Hopefully, with the intent of addressing them directly. Christ, just because they're angry doesn't mean their bond is broken. They're going to make up. Also, I want to say seasons 4 and 5 are my absolute favorite and are likely to always be my favorite, but I also enjoy season 8.

I might add that I am sick of the Wincest v. Destiel crap. Stop it, both sides. You're as bad as each other. Supernatural is dire and its faults need highlighting, but your crap isn't helping. Just because you like the brothers doesn't make you Wincest, nor does liking Cas mean you're a Destiel. Grow up, all of you.
Neither ship is canon. Let's keep this discussion on the show, and the way it NEEDS to improve. If you want to wank about your ships, take it to Tumblr, not here. Are there any adults posting here for goodness sake? Or hormonal teens?
I repeat, I want the brothers to be brothers again, but I like Cas as well. And yes, Season 8 stinks. It is dire. It's boring. Supernatural needs drastic improvement. If this show was still screening Friday nights, it would be facing cancelation. (Deservedly so, IMO. Season 8 is poor. ) Carver should consider himself lucky he has Arrow as a lead in.

Sure the brothers have always fought. But now? Now it is forced. It is contrived. The brothers have been destroyed. Sam is not Sam, and Dean is not Dean. Purgatory could have been fascinating, with Sam on the other side trying to get Dean out. That is supernatural.
Disappointed. When Gamble left, I was happy and thought the show was going to improve. Sadly I was mistaken. What we have is a soap opera. I have read that people are complaining about Cas, but Cas isn't the problem here. Amelia is. Boring Amelia has taken up more screentime than Cas. She has to go. I hate soap. This is not Harlequin romance show.
The only new characters I am interested in are Benny and Naomi. For those who think Season 8 is the best, I suggest you watch Seasons 1-5, and tell me this season is better. IT IS NOT. BTW, I am both a brothers fan AND Cas fan.
