The CW Cancels Emily Owens, M.D.
The CW has pulled the plug on Emily Owens, M.D.
Although boasting a terrific cast, led by Mamie Gummer, the freshman medical series struggled in the ratings since its premiere, debuting to just 1.7 million total viewers. That figure dropped to just one million for this week's installment.
Like ABC with recently-canned Last Resort and 666 Park Avenue, a network insider says The CW will likely air all 13 episodes before taking Emily Owens off for good.
Earlier this month, Beauty and the Beast, which benefits from its Vampire Diaries lead-in, was picked up for a full season by The CW.

Figures, once again a good show gone without giving it a chance, between the CW canceling Emily Owens and ABC canceling 666 park avenue I am getting to the point that I don't want to get hooked on any of their shows just to have them pulled.

It seems I wrote a lot, so here is part 2 of my comment...
I signed the petition because I think "Emily Owens M.D." should have never been in the cancelation line and it deserves another chance to shine again.
And come on, TV Networks, let the shows grow, give them time; if not, we couldn't have had the remarkable season two of "Buffy" or the following ones, for that matter.
Mention Justin Hartley aka Oliver Queen, the reason why I stumbled with this tv show, in the first place.
And sorry, before, I mistyped the name of Mamie Gummer.

So sad to watch the last episode of "Emily Owens M.D."
It really felt good to see how they wrap up the show in such a natural and simple way, like if it was a normal weekly episode with an 'I need more' kind of ending.
When it first aired, I instantly fell in love with the writing; refreshing and actually 'cute' (if that can be said about a writing style). Then, Mammie Gummer, so good at playing kind soul and quirky Emily.
The thing is, that maybe they haven't really comprehend the nature of this show. Maybe 'The CW', wanted something like an amazing medical drama show, and let's admit it, from the point of view of medical stuff; this is not 'ER' (by the way the best medical show ever). For me, the hospital is just the place where the characters play their emotions, so I can understand why the medical panorama is not as true as it should be, only to reinforce the dialogue between people, such in need these days, just that. This show is about these people who happen to be doctors.

Please don't cancel this show. It is great. Give it a chance. I discovered this show while going through the channels searching for something of substance and have been a fan ever since. Mamie Gummer is fantastic. Put the series on another channel. Please give America a quality show to watch.
