NCIS Review: The General Comments (Page 4)

  1. Michael

As a Long time watcher of NCIS I am wondering if they should stop doing two part episodes because seem like they have not been as good as early season, I feel like NCIS LA had a better two part then NCIS.

I saw that dude being the bad guy a mile away feel like these season is just a throw away like season 7 they have no idea what to do I wish we could go back to season 8 and early season 9 what would be perfect is if we could get the season 1 and 2 back. I am so tired of scary Gibbs who get push over by his "kids" I'm tired of McGee acting like he a victim all the time grow a BACKBONE already. Tony He get blame for everything and its getting old why even have him of the show if you’re going to treat him like he a 2nd rate citizen.

Abby need to change not her look but how she treat her coworker like family last time I check your coworker were not your family they are your coworker nothing more nothing less.

Ziva well we all know what wrong with Ziva

    @gatorgal

they have hinted at Shannon and Kelly ever since season 1 that was always the plan of the show

For those who were questioning the suicide angle, I re-watched the episode "Nature of the Beast." Here are Tony's words, verbatim: "You know when my mom died, we were in her room like this. I remember 'cos there was this movie playing, "Angels With Dirty Faces."

So I would say that indicates she had an illness. Now, that is not to say that TPTB will not change the story. In the beginning, there was no Shannon and Kelly. I remember a "Roundtable" on one of the DVD's and MH admitting his shock that he had another marriage and a child that he never knew about.

Well, Veteran's Day was the 11th, the armistice for WWI being signed on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of the year. Used to be called "Armistice Day. So I think it's appropriate the shows focused on veterans, whether it was intentional or not to coincide wiht Veteran's Day.

I also thought this was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but that was October; otherwise for the life of me I cannot explain Abby wearing a pink tee shirt even though it had a sequined skull on it. Those you who DVR'd this ep, go back and look at that scene and look at "Abby's" waistline while she's running around the mannequins. PP has a dynamite figure, and this T-shirt was either very unflattery or...

Its interesting that this week's Bones ep also dealt with returning vets' problems. I also appreciated this sympathetic character development of a societal problem faced by these people. This episode was really well done by the writers, as well as all the actors. I also appreciated the pic of a young Michael Weatherly.
Though having Ziva be so understanding of Tony does seem a stretch, in light of all her background as a super violent assassin/spy, I also like the chemistry.
So the question arises again: do we have the potential for seeing director Vance enter the picture, because of the need for leadership due to the potential size and complexity of this plot line? Here's a chance to show the team's potential growth into a truly sophisticated organization, dealing with international terrorist activities.

So, do we need an acronym for McGee and Abby? How about McGabby? Heh heh. I agree with all of the above comments about how solid this episode was: Good story line, good detail, no B.S. pseudo-science.

Very good episode and I too am glad to see PTSD covered in this show as this is such a problem with our returning service men and women. Gibbs is so compassionate, and Tony and Ziva so sweet together. As much as I like them as a possible couple, I have my doubts the writer will ever make that happen. It's more fun for them to banter back and forth.
I look forward as to how this story will end next week. Since it's Thanksgiving week hopefully something very special. I'm so thankful the writer remembers holidays and ties them in with the storylines.

  8. SAM

This episode is clearly the best one of Season 10, better than even the premiere. Here's hoping the second part is just as good.

  9. webruce

Turned out to be a great part 1 episode. Now with the suspected terrorist Randy Kersey in the states it reminds me of NCIS:LA. Tiva(Tony/Ziva) has some good moments. I thought there might be more little Tony's pics. And yes it looks like more from Tim and Abby(Tabby,or Abim?). That is good. The twist with Joe Westcott and his PTSD was good and confusing at first. Gibbs and Abby stayed all night at the office and didn't know the other did?
    next week should be interesting.

  10. MWK

Good episode. Talk about a whole family in denial about PTSD and what it does to an otherwise sane person. Liked the twist that the seemingly random stranger turned out to be a bad guy and I am confident they will get him next ep. Where was Vance? Teenage Tony with the huge hair was a delight and Gibbs calling him 'helmet head' was fun too. A couple of touching moments. This was a very good ep and I look forward to the conclusion next week.

@Dani & Nat - ignore that person. He doesn't watch NCIS. His posts should have been the dead giveaway of that fact. Anyone who has NEVER seen DiNozzo take cheap, sarcastic shots at the rest of the team CLEARLY does not watch NCIS. When he made fun of Tim in front of Gibbs in Phoenix, I wanted to reach through the TV and knock his teeth down his throat. Tony can be a JERK. Personally I think Ziva can do FAR better than him, but that's my opinion. And I believe you're referring to 9x20 - The Missionary Position (great episode!!) from Season 9. Yes..Ziva meant it entirely in terms of the danger of the mission - she & Monique are used to that kind of dangerous environment in foreign countries; Tony & the Chaplain were NOT. She didn't want to put both of their lives in jeopardy since she wouldn't be able to keep a close eye on either one. But we're in S10 now - not S9. It's no longer an issue, so just IGNORE the Haters!!!

  12. Dani

@Michael "Nat" watches a show called N C I S...along with pretty much everyone ELSE here who posts. YOU, however, watch a variation of a show you have created in your OWN mind, that stars ONE navy cop who is so full of himself, worships himself, and lives in a world of DENIAL where he can't face the Truth about himself! Tony IS the "King of Insults" on the show we all watch, and he's very, very good at doing it. He loves to poke fun at his team members (especially McGee), even at the expense of offending them. It's part of his role on the show. Get a Grip and face it. And since you have NO clue about what Ziva was actually referring to on 9x21, don't bother bringing it up. The writer's scripted comment clearly went over your head, as well as the dual reference to the CHAPLAIN, which you clearly overlooked also.

  13. Michael

    @NAT

don't know what show your watching but Tony has never done any of that He never called Gibbs a coward and a Loser like Ziva did He never call Mcgee a lair and try to frame a murder on him like Ziva try too Tony never called anyone deadweight or worthless or told me to kill themself because the world would be better off like Ziva has aaid to Tony more then onces

As far as Tony mother all we know is she die from something short after she left Tony and his father many people think Tony is not the Son of his TV father and his real father was killed by his fake father.

  14. Nat

@gatorgal Hi there. YOU are not wrong!! It was NEVER revealed that Tony's mom took her own life - fans are deliberately assuming that b/c of the recent Namesake episode about Gibbs' mom. Tony's mom died in the hospital. That could mean ANYTHING. I also find it amusing that a small amount of fans with selective memories CLEARLY overlook the fact that Tony is the KING of Insults - he LIVES to insult Tim, Ziva, AND Gibbs. His remarks are often offensive to both his teammates AND the viewing audience. He loves to make fun of his coworkers, and still does it every chance he gets.

@Lauren: During what episode was it revealed that Tony's mom killed herself? I have every season on DVD and totally missed that, unless early years it was stated, and then changed to dying in the hospital in Season Nine.

  16. Lauren

Okay, I for one absolutely loved this episode and was surprised that Ziva was being nice to Tony for once. Usually Ziva and McGee are always insulting him and it was nice to see Ziva talk to Tony about his mom. I love that she was the reason Tony loves movies so much. @Kay Tony's mom killed herself when he was 8. That's why she was the first one to break his heart.

I also love that the show really brought PTSD to the forefront. People need to know what the signs are and what to do to help that person.

Also, Tony standing up to Gibbs, and later having an I-told-you-so moment was priceless.

  17. Robin

Well-written episode, tactful and compelling presentation on PTSD. Gibbs was at his best, a great scene where Ziva appreciates Tony's reflexes! and later the backstory on Tony's relationship with his mother, a good explanation on movie-loving DiNozzo. And yes, I caught that hint of Abby and Timothy going out on a dinner date! Back to solid characters and not granting guest stars way too much screen time.

And since you want Tony back with Jeanne, which is when I stopped watching NCIS for awhile, I am again assuming that you are not a TIVA fan, though you do say earlier in your post that you would love to see them get together at the end of the series. I couldn't stand Jeanne, and I didn't like the whole undercover arc, with Tony lying to everyone about what he was doing.

@Eula: Uh, Ziva is her name, TIVA is an acronym of Tony and Ziva used when people refer to them as a couple. I am assuming you really did not know this. Tony + Ziva = TIVA

  20. Eula

Why do people keep misspelling ZIVA name? It is not TIVA.
I loved the episode. Love the pic of tony when he was a kid. Love to have seen him in a sailor uniform I know he was so cute. I also would love to see tony & ziva get together but not now maybe when the program is completely over. Ziva looks way better than Selma Hayek. ZIVA is sexy not bland and her acting skills are awesome. So people stop hating on ZIVA. Can't wait til next Tuesday to see the conclusion.
I love the way Gibbs interact with people when they are hurting. I love tony & Gibbs I look forward every Tuesday to seeing them and the rest of the team. Glad to see the family team is still there. Excited that JLC is no where to be found and that Kate is gone forever. And if they want to have a love interest for tony please bring back jean Benoit. I know she has a show coming up but they where so good together.

  21. Kate

When I saw that picture of an overweight Tony, the first thing I thought was that he'd put the weight on after his mother died. I was kind of surprised and a little disappointed that McGee and Ziva didn't realize this before teasing Tony about being "homely".

@Carla Day- thanks! I looked all over for it, but couldn't find it.

@ Kay and AM- In the Season Nine opener, when Tony was in the hospital after being shot, he told the psych lady this reminded him when they were in the hospital when his mother was dying or ill. He said they were watching the movie "Angels With Dirty Faces." I don't remember if there was a reason for her death given, but I always assumed it was cancer or an accident. I'll have to rewatch the episode.

She "broke his heart" by dying so young and while he was a child, but I don't think suicide had anything to do with it.

  23. Michael

I like how Tony is starting to question Gibbs again that was cool that picture of him and his mom was sweet, I would't say it was a good one but it was not bad either.

  24. AM

Kay, I was thinking the same thing.

  25. kay

it kind of sounded like tony's mum killed herself with the whole 'last movie' and 'broke my heart. have i read too much into it? do we know how she died?
