Castle > Castle Review: Behind the Murder > Comments Page 3
I pretty much hated it. Castle came off as just plan smarmy and Esposito was just completely annoying. It’s one thing to pander to the camera but this just seemed too overt and over the top almost to point of embarrassing for the actors. It didn't work for me.
So far this season "Castle" had it out of the park with every episode but now, for me, they are 6 and 1 in the win/loss column. I hope this isn't the start of a mid-season slump.
I am so afraid we are watching the final season of Castle. The last two episodes were the worst. I could not stay awake. Captain Gates is ridiculous; where are Martha and Alexis. I even miss Dr Burke. Great way to lose fans and this from a HUGE one!
Although the constant camera shooting of the show in progress made me rather sick to my stomach, I thoroughly enjoyed the show and just how camera hungary all people can be including the chief. Adorable that Kate and Castle got caught on camera showing affection, but were smart enough to get the cameraman to edit it out.
i actually really enjoyed this episode! :) i thought it was great that they tried a different approach to it and that made it fun! i'm glad that the Castle creators are doing new and different things once in a while, it changes it up. and the entire time it made me feel like i was part of the process, that when the characters were looking in the cameras that they were looking at me. i felt included in the case and that was a real treat! yes, i think that this is a one time thing, but i think that they did very well! :) i LOVE Castle! and just because they tried to do something different, doesn't mean i'm going to hate on the episode. i loved this episode! well done, Castle cast and crew! y'all are awesome! and i applaud and thank you for your hard work each week!!
I absolutely LOVED this episode. It was hilarious and I enjoyed seeing the different take. It was fun watching them all play, as actors, with the camera. I'm sure it was a difficult episode to film because they are trained NOT to look at the camera. All in all, a funny and wonderful episode.
I'm with you. It was a novel concept that I enjoyed this one time. I don't think I'd want to see it again. It was not the best episode, but it wasn't bad. Kudos to Jon Huertas (Espo) for hamming it up superbly! I really enjoyed his character in this episode.
Goodness gracious you people are hard to please! No. It wasn't the best episode, but it was fun. I enjoyed seeing R&E react to the cameras and I really thought it was sweet how Castle wanted the cameras to see how amazing Beckett is. The end was also priceless. I think it's safe to say there was a lil "Stana" in it.
The episode was fine, but there is a reason the SteadyCam was invented in Canada years ago. Honestly. Loved the GLARE that Beckett gave the camera as a warning after it caught Castle and Beckett in the break-room. DON'T MESS WITH ME!! but so subtle.
We have watched Castle from the beginning and this was the worst episode ever!!
Gave me a headache and turned it off!!!! Whoever wrote it should be fired!!!
I have always LOVED "Castle" - been watching from day one. Not a big fan of gimmicky style filming. I did enjoy this different approach but once a season is enough....I did love it when the actors look right into the camera as it made you feel they were looking right at you. Interesting and different but pass on doing this concept too often.
I absolutely loved the way everyone turned into a HAM when the documentary camera was on them! I thought it was a unique angle and kinda liked it for a change...
One of the things that annoys me about gimmicky directorial concepts like this is that one can (I do) take it like everyone involved in the show (and thus owes their very good living to their audience -- us) is making fun of the "rubes" whom they laugh about staring into the camera and all the things they did. It's a cruel kind of insider humor. And, anyway, the joke got old. I liked the case, though, and the band dynamics, and even Beatles reference! I remember reading about musicians something that stuck with me, that for whatever image they have or portray, the really have worked to develop their talent exactly the way any other ambitious person might, that they each have a story of how they got where they are. This ep showed that.
Not the best episode. Rather a waste of everyone's talent. I don't like it when Beckett has to be annoyed all through the episode, when she is so attractive when she is charming. Please don't try this again. There were some funny moments, but precious little Caskett moments!
Overall not one of my very favs. I have been watching since the show started and I love the show no matter what. I think we should give credit to the writers who are always trying to change things up. I also think we should give so much credit to these very talented actors who at any other time would never look at the camera. I am sure it is not so easy when you are used to an eye line and avoiding camera. This is testment to the talent this show has and never gets enough credit for. If you have watched for as long as I have you can tell who the writer was by the style. Andrew is always changing things up and his wife Terri writes you see so many more softer and sexier sides of Beckett and Castle. This pairing makes the show great. It makes you look forward to the next episode this is the sign of great entertainment all around. LOOOOOOVVVVEEE the show
Ok I was wrong 2 scenes I did love. Castle and Beckett in the breakroom when he has his hand on her cheek and she places her hand on his. 2nd scene was when Castle and Espo are watching the sex tape and Gates walks up and says make sure to check the time and date...they can be faked. And Beckett says that's not all that's fake in this tape...or something like that. Now those 2 scenes I'd watch again.
I'm a Castle fan from episode one and I really HATED this episode. Not a fan of the fake "documentary" style of filming, which after 5 minutes was giving me an intense headache. Found myself flipping channels every few minutes, because it was that distracting. HATED all the characters looking into camera. PLEASE if the powers that be read these blogs, DON'T do this again.
All in all the only redeeming scene of this episode was Beckett locking the film crew in the closet at the end. Too bad she didn't think of doing that sooner.
Please don't ever do this again. I love Castle....I watch it at least 20 times a week but won't be watching this 1 again. Best Scene- Beckett showing the film crew the closet...only because I knew the episode was coming to an END!!
such a hilarious episode!
i could not stop laughing. Espo was by far the funniest.
One of the worst episodes of Castle so far. This was the first time I had to fastforward an episode of the series. Kept waiting for the documentary to finish. No other comment.
Both my wife and I love Castle, but she could not stand this episode and I merely tolerated it. I loved that the characters had subtle and not so subtle changes in front of the camera. I for one, loved Lanie as an absolute vamp. My wife could not get out of the chair fast enough. I am looking forward to more standard episodes and less gimecky ones. Last week's episode was a great one for fanguys, especially those who also loved Firefly. But back to basics where the advance the standard Caskett plot, focus on a case. I did enjoy the murder mystery in the band episode though. Usually I guess the culprit well before the end, but this one kept me guessing right until the end.
I started out not liking the episode at all, but it kinda grew on me. There were some good quotes and funny moments. Still, hope they get back to the winning formula they have had for the rest of this season.
I must say this was not one of my favorite episodes!! What happened to Caskett, one little moment! I know they can't always be gaga goo over each other but when was there last kiss?!! They have gotten away from that! Martha and Alexis who? Where were they?!! I like to see the other side of the characters but this is Castle!! The story/murder plot was okay but it all seemed to run together! I am glad this is one shot deal, no more episodes like this! I look forward to some humor, seriousness and of course
some Caskett moments each week, this was disappointing!
I wouldn't say this one was a bad episode.
It was HORRIBLE!
It had everything: A lame case, horrible, HORRIBLE acting hinging and relying on NF's idiosynchratic immaturity and egotistical self-centered photo-bombing sillines; illogical, flip-flopping off-character behaviour by Ryan and Espo (and in the last scene, by Beckett) and most of all the "different approach" was very, very crudely dealt with.
I mean, ok, I get it, they want to try something new and everybody else already did a musical episode or a black-and-white one or fantasy AU ones, why not try a documentary. It could have worked. Seriously, I swear if Joss Whedon had been in charge, this one could have been a fun one. Not great, thanks to the sub-par writing, but solid. We would have gotten fast sweeps, blurry pictures zooming into focus at just the right moment to make us feel we might or might not have missed something significant just there.... We would have seen scenes where the documentary crew actually got in
Much as I adore Castle, this was not one of the best and didn't really move anything along. Don't think I'll be watching this one again, unlike Always etc etc.
This was just a ridiculous episode. They overacted and it was just terrible. Come on... Castle is better than this... The last two episode were absolutely insane compared to the one with the 3xk killer.
