90210 Review: The Breaking Point

by at . Comments

Love triangles, schemes and sex tapes can only stay wrapped up for so long. In "The Con," everything finally unraveled for the kids on 90210. With a trip to Santa Barbara for a faux-Comic Con, all the drama that's been building up finally came to a head.

Some people found themselves in a better place, while others found themselves in a darker place than they started. This week, I think we should break it down by characters....

Naomi in Costume

Any chance this is geek speak for "everything's gonna be just fine?" | permalink

Unfortunately Naomi, that would be a resounding no.

Naomi/Max/Alec Naomi and Alec have been in a battle for Max's affections since 90210 Season 5 kicked off. Maybe in Alec's case it wasn't so much Max's "affections" as it was just wanting to be number-one in his life. Either way, these two have been at odds. Naomi initially tried to play nice and appeal to Alec as a new friend. As you all recall, Alec did her dirty by hiring a photographer and kissing her, then giving the damning evidence to Max.

When the hack occurred, Naomi even made a last ditch attempt at covering for Alec when they initially thought it was his fault. When it comes down to it, even though she is crazy enough to start hitting a dude with a stick while in a Princess Leia costume, she really does love her husband. Too bad when the tables turned and it turns out it was Naomi's fault, Alec was more than willing to throw her under the bus.

While telling your husband he has to choose between you and his best friend isn't exactly mature, it was adult of her to admit that things were never going to change and Alec would ultimately best her. She couldn't handle however many more years of fighting. I gotta say, even though Max feels like his marriage just cost him his best friend, he really needs to take a deeper look at what an ass-bag that best friend was. He made no effort to get along with Naomi and be an adult about things.

Sorry Alec, you're out.

Navid/Silver/Liam Okay, maybe I picked up on some wrong vibes but I really felt like Silver was leaning towards having feelings for Liam again. Even if I caught a blip of that she seemed to be happy for him about his professor girlfriend and genuinely wanted to be friends again. Even if she was leaning towards Liam over Navid, do you blame her? Navid has been competing for the douchebag of the year award this season!

What happened to the sweet Navid Shirazi? Silver wasn't his girl anymore when he was away at Princeton, and Dixon saying that was just foolish considering Dixon was the very first one to date Silver! Enough with the scheming, Navid should've just asked if Silver was trying to get back together with Liam. How could he reveal that sex tape? Honestly, in our day and age, all that tape will do is catapult Liam to fame. Let's not kid ourselves. Too bad it cost Liam his new girlfriend and Navid his business partner and best friend.

Annie Annie said it herself, her picker is off. She chooses bad guys. Here's a big rule of thumb: if you have to convince yourself to be into a guy and cast away doubts, something probably isn't working. Colin was scum, Annie's gut told her so. Annie needs to get her Olivia Pope on more often and listen to her gut! I'm kind of liking her with Riley even though they got off to a rocky start. How about you guys?

Adrianna/Dixon You might be thinking Adrianna got off scot-free since she didn't have to tell Dixon the truth in the end. No way! Ade is so saddled with guilt right now and it's all of her own making. The chemistry between her and Dixon just isn't there anymore. Maybe they love each other, but they both seem to be holding on out of fear and support. Great support each other as friends, love each other as friends, but don't pretend you are in love anymore.

Dixon was in pain, but he wasn't snapping at everyone else. Adrianna still chose to cheat. This one is going to blow up in her face big time. Dixon deserves better than a cheater.

So there's my breakdown. What did you all think of "The Con?" Did you want to see things go differently for these couples?

clingy again this episode (toward Liam), and then MAGICALLY switches to giving Navid a chance…all thanks to the advice of none other than Liam.
Liam. Lindsay. Sex tape revealed. Lindsay can’t handle spotlight (plus her career was just thrown out the window). They could never work. End of story. I could’ve lived without knowing who Lindsey was.
Annie. Annie. Annie. (SMH).Okay so her and Colin (runner up for douche bag of the year) first… ugh, this was an annoying couple to watch. I’m glad its OVER! Annie, fix your picker…tehe…seriously though, you knew something was ‘up’ but you went ahead and picked MR NICE GUY Colin. The dude googled you for crying out loud, he ‘picked’ on Riley in Hate 2 Love, and now he screwed Max’s company. I wish she slapped him during his presentation. (Forgot to mention Annie was a little clingy too, toward Colin, but not as noticeable.) ANNIE & RILEY rotating tires to the end of time, I can see it now. LOL. I didn’t like it that Riley said he liked her since their first encounter, it just seems…sudden? It would’ve been better if writers chose a later time frame that he realized he liked Annie, like the one from Its All Fun and Games. But whatever, what’s done is done. Overall, I liked the Rannie-ness of this episode. It was probably the only couple worth watching this episode, besides the ‘nice’ scenes of Maomi.
Adrianna. Well, why doesn’t she like eggs? The world may never know. But something that everyone knows is that she is a cheater, an obvious one at that. I really hate that those are the only SL she gets. This was probably the worst part of the episode. I must say it bugs me that Taylor just ‘ends’ the relationship when he was the one who kept pursuing it even when Dix was in a worst condition. Bugs the hell out of me that Taylor instantly changes direction. UGH. Sorry had to get that out there.
Dixon. Poor guy, his gf’s doing a guy that he confided in (sort of confided in). And know he has a spinal infection. I love that his healing process is still being looked into. It’s continuity, and its 90210’s worst subject. But I’ve got to give them props for remembering that Dixon was in a HORRIBLE accident.

Wow, I’m very pleased with what the writers are doing this season. Each episode gets better and better. (such a bummer that there was less viewers this time around though...guess that’s what happens when unpopular content gets put in the promo i.e. Ade being a whore)
Naomi. She definitely looked better as princess Leia than she did as that avatar thing. I can’t say the same about Max as Han Solo…meh, I think he should’ve been C3PO. I didn’t see Naomi’s attempt to cover up Alec the same. I feel like she didn’t want to expose that she was the one that allowed Colin to get into Alec’s phone at this point. Alec though, is a jerk, I doubt we’ve seen the last of him (according to future episode descriptions).
Navid. Ding Ding Ding. It looks like we have a winner for douche bag of the year! Liam should have kicked his ass right then and there, heh, but I’ll settle for what we got. Liam just paying Navid off, it avoids the Liam v. Navid SL. Silver, a bit too clingy again this episode (toward Liam), and then MAGICALLY switches to giving Navid a chance…all thanks to the advice of none other than Liam.
Liam. Lindsay. Sex tape revealed. Lindsay can’t handle spotlight (plus her career was just thrown out the window). They could never work. End of story. I could’ve lived without knowing who Lindsey was.

Just read the preview for the episode in 2 weeks and it sounds like Navid and Liam "make up" as Liam offers Navid a job as manager at the off shore.

I am glad that Max chose Naomi as she was the one that was trying the most but at the end, why did Max have to tell Naomi he lost his best friend because of this. When just 2 seconds earlier he could see how much of a jerk Alec was being. Sadly I see a bumpy road ahead for Max and Naomi!

This was a great episode.
I am glad that the Colin storyline did not drag out, it was very sweet that Riley came to get Annie at Phemoicon when Dixon was in the hospital. I hope that Riley and Annie stay together for a long time, she needs a long term relationship.
I used to like Ade and Dixon together but not when Ade is cheating on him, when Taykir told her he hopes Dixon knows how lucky he is, I was like thinking Yeah if you consider being cheated in Lucky then Dixon is the luckiest guy in the world. I somehow do not think that Taylor would think he was lucky if the situation was reversed.
Navid is such a jerk! I like how Liam handled it, you can tell he wanted to punch Navid but byuying him out was the better choice! I want Liam and Silver to get together already! If he and Annie wont end up together then the second choice is Silver.

Addixon is my least favorite couple period so I don't mind if they're being hacked (ha!) to pieces. Besides, Megan is adorable and the review is right; Ade and Dixon are pretending there's something there. IMO, there never really was or else he wouldn't have been cowardly and left her. Navid needs to get over Silver, for his own sanity. The bloom is off the rose and has been for awhile.

The only character that has a real storyline is naomie. Everything is garbage. Liam and the professor where did that come from. I agree with what someone said earlier, The writers are to blame for how Dixon an Adrianna are writing. To me they had the ingredients to write them really well and show character development with the accident. But, instead they chose to show Ade as a hungry sex craving slut and Dixon with the same issues. Do the writers even like any of the characters that they write for?

@James: Don't forget Riley! He's number 11 on that list.

i really think this was the best episode of the season so far

Interesting observation on Naomi, Megan. Although I remember Naomi trying to get revenge on Annie before by hooking up with her ex- in Season 1, I'm glad she never continued to go on that route of sleeping with her friend's boyfriends and exes. Annie: Where can I even begin. Annie has probably has the most flings and boyfriends than anyone in her circle. Let see: 1)Her ex before the show started named Jason, 2) Ty, 3)Ethan, 4)Mark, 5)Jasper, 6)Liam, 7)Charlie, 8)Her pimp with benefits, 9)Caleb, and 10)Colin

90210 Season 5 Episode 6 Quotes

Riley: I like you.
Annie: I don't know what to say.
Riley: How about I like you too, now take me back to your place and let's rotate those tires.

Any chance this is geek speak for everything's gonna be just fine?
