The Good Wife Review: Cursed

by at . Comments

The Good Wife featured a public relations scare this week, while Alicia also faced difficulties at work. And then there was Kalinda. She continued to hang out with her creepy and dangerous husband.

In "Two Girls, One Code," Will and Alicia's clients created a voice recognition software that went out of business when their search engine ranking went from page one to page 28 of results. The influence of search engines is huge on businesses, so I found this case to be intriguing.

I did find it difficult to believe that a search engine company would penalize a business for not buying advertising, but I guess anything's possible. The real reason for the search downgrade made much more sense. It was in Chumhub's interest since they bought the competing voice recognition company.

Last Sunday, I complained about the lack of pre-trial research and it struck here again. Shouldn't Will have known about the competitor's ownership before they went to court? I know, it makes for a better mystery and case, but it's a tad annoying. Still, I loved the way the case played out because it was unexpected.

Waiting on Peter

The sensitive nature of the search engine's algorithm and the demand to keep it private was a compelling argument, but it was what the case hinged upon. Just because something is a trade secret doesn't mean you should be able to hide behind it.

In the end it didn't matter. The girls were suckered into dropping the case with jobs running the competitor that put them out of business. They could have had millions to do whatever they wanted; instead they got gigs and the law firm got screwed out of their cut.

Wasn't that unethical? Representatives of Chumhub had to have talked to the Lockhart Gardner clients without their lawyers present, right? Since it is a civil suit, it may not be above board, but it's not illegal. The law firm will have to find another way to save itself.

While the case was going on, there were a few personal problems taking place as well. A reporter was working on a juicy story about infidelity in Alicia and Peter's marriage. Alicia really has been through enough. It wasn't her fault that Peter cheated on her and she left him. I was glad that it wasn't a story about Alicia and Will. If she wanted to move on with him, there was nothing wrong with that. And for Peter's campaign to bring her more pain is unacceptable. Thankfully, that didn't happen.

Peter, though, is going to be an easy target for scandal. If he makes one wrong move or even the appearance of impropriety, he is going to go down. Given his past, people will believe it, so he was lucky to have Eli on his side to search out the truth and put a kibosh on the story.

This time Peter wasn't lying and Alicia rewarded him with a kiss. Ugh! I don't know why it bothers me so much, but I don't want Alicia to get sucked back in by Peter. Even though I do believe people can change to a certain extent, Alicia would be taking a huge step backwards.

If Peter wins the election, will Alicia give up her job and move to Springfield with him? Unless of course, he governs from Chicago, but that didn't work out well for the last Governor that tried it. In the long run, Alicia needs to stay separated, or actually divorce him, to keep the life she has grown to love.

As complicated as Alicia and Peter's marriage may be, it doesn't even come close to that of Kalinda and Nick. Whoa! What the heck was up with that eggs, frying pan, knife, and bigger knife situation? They are a crazy ass couple and I've had about enough of it. It's been nice to get some back story on Kalinda, but why doesn't she cut him off? Or get a restraining order?

The relationship with Nick doesn't coincide with what we know about her. She's a kick ass, strong woman who stands up for herself. It's difficult to understand why she is acting this way. I loved the return of Lana, but again, Kalinda was using her.

Did Kalinda want Nick to find out and go after Lana? As a Federal Agent, he'd be right back in prison again. Kalinda has manipulated the situation for her benefit, which sounds like the Kalinda we know.  But at what cost? Lana is innocent is all of this. It would be one thing if the couple set a trap for Nick, but Lana doesn't know what's going on. She could be seriously hurt by Nick if she doesn't expect him. I'm disappointed in Kalinda this season.

I hold out hope that this storyline will redeem itself, but it needs to be very soon. When this is all over, I expect Kalinda will come out even stronger than before, but it's a difficult road to get there.

Are you happy to see Alicia and Peter getting closer again? Or should Alicia continue to keep her distance from her husband? Are you tired of Kalinda and Nick's destructive relationship?

I loved all the characters in TGW. It was my favorite show. But I dont like where season 4 is heading at the moment. I dont like to watch Kalinda's personal drama. I dont like how Alicia goes back and forth with Peter. I thought it was selfish as she went from one extreme to another in a short time. It showed immaturity. Will and Dianne are great lawyers. Will is as usual superb when he is in court. I was a Willicia fan as I thought their attaction to each other was beyond words. But it is now obvious that Alicia has a different agenda. In real life, I dont think an available bachelor like Will will hhng on to Alicia. So, I dont care anymore. I wish the creators could make season 4 better.

I think that Peter and Alicia should have a second or third go of things. Yes he did inexcusable things but he has changed, he will never do it again and he is a good father, other than the fact he did hookers. He will be good to Alicia and let her have what she wants. I think that Will and Alicia is far too complicated for words. Even though he loves her, she does not love him the same way. Maybe she would have loved him that way if she never married Peter but she did. Plus its obvious from the way she was with Will when she asked him about being at a hotel on that day. She was more concerned that it did happen on that day and it would hurt Peter. Not Will or her but Peter.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... The Kings need to give Lockhart Gardiner a win. Seriously. It's so irritating already that every week they just get more deeper into crap. I know that their financial woes can't just be turned over night but a step in the right direction should be better than having no wins at all. While it was hillarious to watch how people took their being fired, its so sad that good lawyers are being treated so bad. I love how Kalinda got the upper hand on that freak of a husband. But I still think Jimmy Mistry would have made a better husband.

This Kalinda-Nick storyline needs to be handled better, but then again maybe we are being impatient. I hope the writers have some plot that is going to make us go woahhh.
Personally I have always liked Marc Warren (Nick), he was very good in 'no night is too long' and also now in hustle. Unfortunately TGW has not utilized him properly so far, hope that will improve.
Poor Cary - couldn't they give him some court scenes at least? They should use him, he is great. This peter-will-alicia thing has gone one too far. I think Alicia should divorce and move on. Will and Alicia don't work - Will seems to want more, would have liked to meet her kids - but she was never into that. It seemed that she only wanted a little affair with no repercussions. So there is no will-alicia. It's best for everyone that they all move on.
Sorry for the long comment :-) Love the good wife, looking forward to more.

Are you happy to see Alicia and Peter getting closer again? 1 word NO! Or should Alicia continue to keep her distance from her husband? Keep her distance, he will stray again. Are you tired of Kalinda and Nick's destructive relationship?
Yes, get rid of Nick! I am unhappy about Kalinda and her relationship with such a abusive person. I expected more from her and letting him stay around is a big mistake.

I, like some other viewers like the legal battles, the politics and I can even understand Alecia and Peter conflict. They've been married for years and have two kids, also despite all their problems they seem to enjoy and depend on each other. I am so sick of Kalinda's sexual escapades. I hate the husband, sicko sexual storyline. She is really turning into a sick joke. The clothes, boots and make-up are so over the top. I liked it when she was just a great investigator who used flirting & half promises to get info. I love Diane, miss Cary having a storyline, like Will but think he's kind of spoiled & self centered. The new Trustee is very interesting & I liked the Judge for the case last night. He made me smile.

I enjoyed the twists and turns of the trial, especially the judge in Will and Felicia's case. I'm not liking the Kalinda storyline, I wish she would have more interaction with Cary. I'm a Will & Felicia fan and I was really bummed with this episode. I understand Felicia wanting to get back her "perfect life and family" that she had with Peter but you cant always go back and theirs a reason for that. Im not saying that Peter cant and hasnt changed BUT their was a reason that he stepped outside of his marriage not once but twice and they have yet to discuss why he did so beside him being a sleezebag. And when she rewarded Peter for telling the truth with a kiss, i was making a grab for the trash can to throw up, When she was talking to Will about the hotel stay, she was so caught up with them being found out that she did it realize that Will tried to reach out to her. I believe Felicia cares for Will but she's too scared to taking the leap. I believe something may happen to Will that will show the extent of those feelings.

I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS IF YOU WANT TO MESS AROUND GET A DIVORCE, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SEPARATED. WHAT PETER DID WAS TOTALLY WRONG WHAT ALICIA DID WAS DOWN RIGHT UNFORGIVABLE TO HER KIDS.
AS AN OLDSCHOOLER THERE IS ROOM ONCE FOR FORGIVENESS NO SECOND CHANCE, ALSO IF YOU CAN'T PUT YOUR CARDS ON THE TABLE AND MEAN THEM YOUR OUT. SO YES PETER AND ALICIA BOTH HAVE CROSSED THE LINE BUT PETER IS THE ONE CAN ADMIT IT!!

I also hated that Alicia kissed Peter! it made me go like eew! He's not a complete scumbag but not good for her anyway..I don't get why she just doesn't divorce him, if she says she doesn't care and all..she is so much better with will!
