It features the usual suspects - from Paul Wesley to Joseph Morgan - all glammed up and decked out in black, with the exception of Nina Dobrev's blood red jacket.

But shift your eyes to the left side, TV Fanatics and take note: That's Daniel Gillies!

What can we discern from the inclusion of the actor behind Elijah?

“All I can say is we get a nice little tiny glimpse of him in the flashbacks in episode 4, and that it will not be the last we see of him,” Julie Plec tells Entertainment Weekly, which first published the image. “I just can’t say anything more.”

Okay, fine, Plec. You win. We suppose we'll need to tune in and find out.

The Vampire Diaries Season 4 premiere airs on Thursday, October 11.
