Castle Review: Forecasting Changes

at . Comments

Castle delivered its second episode of the season, "Cloudy with a Chance of Murder," and it stayed true to the typical Castle formula of zany, funny and sexy. Pretty much... perfection.

The hour centered around a murdered weather girl for the local news who was involved in investigating a chemical being released in a New Jersey town. Twists and turns took us through possible affairs, competition at work and partners. Turns out she was helping a co-worker on the story and had decided to take it to the EPA instead of letting him get the exclusive.

What kind of work drives you to kill your partner?

Questioning an Anchor

While down at the news station, Castle ran into an anchor he had previously met and she asked him on a date. Talk about awkward!

First, how aggressive was Kristina? Although she was quite beautiful, this is not the kind of girl Castle would ever date or even pretend to date. Having Beckett run in to the apartment and catch her on top of her man was hilarious.

Guess what bromance is back in action? After getting punched by some security guards, Ryan and Javi buried the hatchet. Finally! These two are so enjoyable to watch. Their friendship feels genuine and needs some more screen time. Anyone else agree?

Lanie also made an appearance! Although it was quick, our favorite coroner showed up just in time to detect that something was going on with Beckett. You have to love the girls intuition. She has always been on top of the Caskett situation.

Local News Scene

Okay, so it only took four years, but how much fun is Caskett as a couple? I had impatiently waited for this day, but it was totally worth it. The relationship feels natural and the couple seems comfortable with each other. Plus, they are too funny together.

The case of the week conveniently dealt with the discussion of inter-office relationships. How big of a problem could this turn out to be? What happens if you break up? Do you switch to a different area? These are all questions that could make for great arcs for this couple - although the writers better not break them up anytime soon!

So, who will be the first to figure out about the new relationship? Lanie? Espo and Ryan seem pretty oblivious to it. Martha and Alexis will be able to tell something is going on. Castle fans, make your guesses. Which one of these characters will be the best detective when it comes to Beckett and Castle?

Under Where?

Overall, a solid episode from the series. There were some pretty great Castle quotes from the hour worth checking out.

Hit up the comments section and let us know what you thought of “Cloudy With A Chance of Murder.” How did it compare to the season premiere? Just as good or a bit of a let down? Finally, don’t forget to check back for the TV Fanatic later this week for the official Castle Round Table.

Love it! I think Castle should have picked up a coffee for Beckett, but this episode was very good. I got a kick over Javier and Ryan having thier moments too. I think the quality time they spend together was worth putting into the storyline. I too, loved the looks, the glances, the "lumps" in their throats hearing about keeping secrets from workers in the tv station. I enjoyed the parts where they got to share feelings, and become more open to how they feel. Bravo, they are taking a big step together. I think Lanie will put it together, or will Alexis when they get home from Paris.

Monday's do not come fast enough for me. Bones and Castle with Major Crime in between make my Monday tv watching heaven. Love the jealously factor between Kate and Castle if either looks at another man or woman. Such a pleasure to watch the chemistry at work between those two.

I am with all of you who said you loved this ep, and I totally agree with the review, it is great to see Javi and Ryan back together in their bromance!
And the scene with Castle and the TV station bimbo straddling him, while Kate breaks in, gun drawn, was hilarious...I was kind of hoping she'd whip off a warning shot over the bimbos head, but alas, she's too professional for that. BTW, my husband worked at a TV station for a couple of years (he worked in radio for 20 years before that) and TV anchors and reporters really are a vain and nasty lot. There are always affairs going on, and the stations General Manager was being blackmailed by one of the news editors to keep her working, though she was a terrible manager and a really nasty person, but because she knew where the bodies were buried, she kept her job. Working in TV is like working in a nest of vipers, at least from what I have seen (I worked in print media for most of my career.)Anyway, I can't wait for next week! Go Caskett!

It was Beckett's first day back to work, so she was understandably very anxious and the case drawing so many parallels freaked her out somewhat. She still has her insecurities and the situation in this episode whilst being very funny at times, brought them to the forefront. I love what AWM is doing with this relationship. It is grounded, 'unsoppy', natural, and as far as any relationship can be on a fictional TV show, real. Well done sir. Really love your show. and it's wealth of talent, both on and off the screen. Long may it continue

niset - We feel the same about the weather babe. We waited 4 years for an amazing first kiss & love scene. Guys are always hitting on Kate & women on Castle but...what is the point??? We want murder, mystery, comedy & romance... Nathan & Stana are superb actors with the most expressive faces & eyes. Give us 4 years of that & then we will be on the 8th season. Castle & Beckett are like two magnets - it is one of those things that happen once in a blue moon...& we know they are only acting...sweet, sexy & saucy. The best crime solving couple of the century :) I hope we enjoy Season 5 with more Caskett moments...& less weather forecasts :)

I think Espo suspects more than he chooses to let on. However, smart money is, of course, on Lanie! I thought it was a great episode...story, romance, everything!

I think it was a great show he enjoyed watching her change shirts looking her over then she gets wise to what he was doing. And Lanie she was cute had them both speechless I think he should have said NO and Kate look when she bust in and see her on top of Castle the look on her face I thought she was going to shoot the both of them. But I think they should now get a little closer and and loveing.I don't think they needed that slut part but i don't write the show. but it was great I think I will go watch it again I taped it.

So funny in places and my favorite part was seeing Kate actually smile/laugh during the end scene where Castle said they would work it out, find their way together. I see Kate as madly in love and showing it more outwardly than Castle which kind of surprises me.

Wonderful episode. Castle and Beckett seem so natural together, even as a new couple. And, for some reason, I found it oddly adorable that, while Ryan and Espo ate their Chinese food with chopsticks, Beckett ate hers with a fork.

scenes with other women and men are time wasted to see more scenes of caskett. They waited 4 years to be a couple let them enjoy their new found happiness. Having that bimbo in castle apartment and going that far with him scenes were totally wasted. we would rather see more caskett scenes.
