Beauty and the Beast > Beauty and the Beast Review: Not So Grotesque After All > Comments Page 2
Just a pet peeve of mine is spelling actors' names wrong and it's 'Ian Somerhalder.'
CW is my guilty pleasure (love GG, TVD, Arrow), but I was not able to finish this episode. Worst premiere ever. Just an opinion.
I give it an A
What bothered me the most about the show is the Beast is not a beast. He doesn't stay in monster mode 24/7, most of the time he's the this amazingly kind doctor who is freaking hot. The moral of Beauty and the Beast (and almost if not every adaption has this one) is that Beauty isn't just skin deep and people that look beautiful on the outside could be the real monsters. The Beast does not have a bad personality nor is he ugly.
That being said..I did like the show. Its flawed but at the same time I'm happy the female lead is not a damsel in distress (most of the time anyway) and can kick ass. So I am going to continue to watch the show even though it is flawed.
I agree with Lindsey. I enjoyed it!
Plot? So cliche
Sure, people find this new show ridiculus, but hey, those things sell. Sure, we are all going to say that we aren't going to watch it anymore, but I bet that most of you will just continue to watch it because one, the guy is hot and mysterious, and second, who isn't a fan of Kreuk? I was totally rooting for her and Clark in Smallville.
Girl cop being saved by "the beast" is a very cliche since a lot of shows are quite similar (ex: Castle, Tarzan, hell, even the new show Arrow), but this plot is what makes us swoon.
Theory: The mother was also working on that genetic experiment?
Just watched it all the way through. The mystery was straight from The Closer season 1.
it was ok.i think i might give it a chance.depends on the ratings...
I don't think it was terrible but they could have given The Beast are more gruesome face, brought down the cheese factor a lil' and made it not seem so Castle-like. Her story is almost similar to Beckett and her mother.
I dreaded watching this show because of the bad reviews it got but I really liked it. It was a pretty decent pilot. It probably won't be the most watched show on television but for those of us with a little romance in our souls will find this show enjoyable. Okay, I'll admit that The Beast could have looked a little more, well, beastly. And to those who keep judging Kristin by saying she's more a damsel in distress than a though chick, did you not watch the last few seasons of Smallville? She completely transformed and kicked ass literally! Peronally, if I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have believed it either because she has such a sweet face. But trust me, Kristin can do jaded, bad ass just fine and look fantastic doing it. Hell, in the last few seasons of Smallville, after divorcing Lex, she even had a little psycho thrown in there for good measure. She's the biggest reason why I'm going to continue to watch this show.
I saw the original. This just wasn't up to that level. Vincent of the 80's was more beastly and believable. And Lana Lang as a hardened cop? Pulease! I kept waiting for Superman to save her! The original Catherine Chandler was attacked and left for dead. Vincent found her and saved her by giving her some of his blood. It made them have a bond where he could sense when she was scared or in danger. This Beast has kept up with this Catherine like a stalker, Creepy!
I only watched because Grey's wasn't on this week. However, I'm glad I did. Though I'm still 50/50 and the show COULD have a chance to continue, I'll have to DVR it to keep up as Grey's is much more of a prominent show for me.
Wow. So, we finally found somebody who doesn't think this show sucks horrendously.
Plus it's more or less tacit advocacy of sticking in abusive relationships. Beast ain't a hideous monster who really has a heart of gold, he's an Abercrombie & Fitch model with (horror of horrors!) a scar. Who's an asshole. But don't worry ladies, if you stick with your asshole boyfriend through thick and thin you just might discover the heart of gold!
And also Kristen Kreuk's character backstory is pretty much ripped holly from Kate Beckett's. For the love of god, their names are even pretty much the same!
Okay - we're all entitled to our opinion, right? Okay...
I actually can't believe that we were watching the same show. I thought this was awful.
The beast is gorgeous even when he's in beast mode. There's no real conflict if there's nothing repelling Beauty and "Beast" from each other, no uncertainty, no repulsion. Hell, she's already in love. The dialogue was laughable. Mom: "You're lucky I was on call!" Lana: "It's not luck. you always come running when I call." SERIOUSLY?
Jay Ryan is wooden, and Kreuk isn't even close to convincing as a tough New York City cop. Oh - and New York City? I'm from Toronto...that was Toronto. They didn't even try to make it look like New York.
Oh - and best part. You're a pre-law student turned cop...and you run away from an oncoming train IN THE SAME DIRECTION OF THE TRAIN?
... Are you both being paid by cw? One of the worst things I've ever seen, and that includes two broke girls
A really decent series preimiere and over-all episode. Who knew Kristen could be funnny. Overall really good. I think i might keep tuning in.
