NCIS to Tackle Military PTSD in Two-Episode Arc
NCIS has always been a military show with its finger on the pulse of the issues of today. As such, the CBS hit is planning to tackle the ongoing issue of PTSD in a two-episode arc this fall. According to Zap2It:
"In a two-episode arc, we will meet the Westcotts, a family of marines who try to console their son when one of his fellow soldiers - his best friend - is taken from him by an unknown threat."
"The arc will explore the PTSD many soldiers experience when returning from combat."
It's unclear when this storyline will air, but November sweeps feels like a good bet. Last year, the show aired a terrific two-part arc ("Engaged") that sent Gibbs & Co. into Afghanistan.

@charli...I agree with you 100%!! Those two can tease each other as they will and it adds some good humor at times,...but the 'drama' around them in a romance may not be good for them or for the series.

Aurora B...i agree we need to get away from the who is sleeping with who or who will eventually sleep with you... i started watching this show because I was intrigued by the Navy Cop stories.... I don't see the chemistry between Tony and Ziva and think they do just fine as friends and partners--in work only, no romantically. I just think if they pair them up, it will ruin the show, too much baggage involved, via Rivkin, Ray, Jeanne, etc.... let's get back to the Marines, Sailors and NCIS agents and leave the romance to each viewers imagination.

I'm looking forward to seeing how our team is able to relate to the PTSD survivor, in the aftermath of the bombing. Also, this is a very serious disorder and one that those who have fought in battles/wars have experience with. Which includes my daddy (Vietnam War Veteran).

So I wonder if they will cover that new Navy ship that was made

A relevant subject matter. GG did say he wanted to make the theme for this season "fallen heroes" and wanted to get back to the Navy roots of this show.

Great! Someone read my post from a couple of months ago. I would've been very, very disappointed if the focus of the first S10 episode was mainly on who's-shagging-who-in-the-elevator (creating a lot of totally ridiculous and utterly hyperbolic debate at this site from BOTH sides). PTSD is a very serious disorder and I think, in light of the season-ending explosion, there should be some emotional fall-out. However, I hope that the writers grow a pair and make things interesting. I really don't want to see the usual suspects (i.e. over-emotional Abby and ever-stoic Gibbs) allotted their usual roles. I think its about time that Abby grew up and Gibbs shed his reptilian skin. And, non-sequiturs notwithstanding, I also hope that the "rebuilt" NCIS building is not mostly orange. Bleh!
