Couples Commentary: Will They? Won't They? Should They?

at . Comments

When Castle and Beckett hit the sheets - or was it the doorframe? - on the Castle season finale, fans swooned as one of the most popular will they/won't they couples on TV settled on the former: They will. They did.

Bubbling sexual chemistry is a staple of TV, but taking two characters from flirting to bedding has often met with mixed results.

Will it work out for Castle and Beckett? We'll be glued to the screen this fall to find out. Should these other teetering tandems go all the way? Or remain friends/co-workers? Weigh in now!

Tony and Ziva (NCIS) - They're more than just partners, but not quite a couple. Tony and Ziva, known as Tiva by diehard shippers, have done this dance for several seasons.

Will Tony & Ziva Ever Take The Leap?

Can the kick-ass former Mossad assassin and the quick witted ex-homicide detective figure out how to balance their work relationship with a love connection?  Will this potential couple ever deliver?

More importantly, SHOULD THEY?

Castle and Beckett (Castle) - An entire fandom could be heard screaming in delight at their TV screens last May when four seasons of love and lust culminated with a heated kiss against the door and Beckett's fingers entwined with Castle's as she led him to what we can only assume was his bedroom.

Will coupledom kill their incredible sexual tension? Or bring back the fun, flirty banter that got lost in all of the angst of season four? Castle Season 5 kicks off in September and fans are holding their breath to see what happens as Castle and Beckett start the next chapter of their story.

Jane and Lisbon (The Mentalist) - It's been four long seasons since the tortured con man met the tough but beautiful CBI agent, yet hints at any love connection have been a long time coming.

Jane & Lisbon Investigate a Surfer's Death

Jane's still emotionally traumatized after his wife and daughter's brutal murder.  Will Teresa Lisbon be the one person who can help end his torment and heal his heart?

With Jane muttering a quick "love you" before pretending to shoot Lisbon and the two holding hands at the end of last season's finale, fans have more hope for this couple than ever before.

Jess and Nick (New Girl)- There's undeniable chemistry between Jess and her snarky bartender/roommate but should their friendship take a turn to romance?

With CeCe and Schmidt taking over the will they/won't they spot at the end of season one, our guess is that fans will have to wait a while to see Jess and Nick come together but we hope it happens... some day.

Jeff and Annie (Community) -  The show may have never intended these two to be a couple but their obvious chemistry could not be denied. With three seasons of flirtations, hesitation, and jealousy behind them, SHOULD THESE TWO FINALLY TAKE THE HILARIOUS PLUNGE?

Did we forget about burgeoning couples? Vote above on the duos included and then leave a Comment below with pairings you want to see move ahead?

@Aycliffe JLC was not an NCIS agent nor does she work for NCIS so the only rule gibbs broke which he say he always had trouble with is Rule # 10

I've always had the feeling that Gibbs knows Tony & Ziva belong together and when he finds out officially he will say What took you so long?
I always felt his reason for trying to keep Tony & EJ apart was because he knew they weren't right for each other and didn't want to see Tony get hurt.

@Michael What is to stop Tony or Ziva suing NCIS and Gibbs from letting them date, has not Gibbs broke his own rule when he had a relationship with Dr. Ryan she was working with the team so really she was a member of the team.

Rule #12 is a Gibbs Rule. It is NOT a Vance rule.....never has been.

@michael you are a woman hater

@Sam Rule number 12 is not just gibbs rule but also Vance Rule and These is why so many people don't like woman in the work place because they do not follow the rules of the company and they bring their privte life into their worklife. What Ziva,EJ and All woman need to understand is you can't change the rule when ever you want let say Ziva and Tony do date and then they break up Who to stop Ziva from suing NCIS and Gibbs for sexual harrsment and don't tell me it wont happen because it has I should know it happen to me.

Secondly, as Tony noted to Gibbs in their discussion about it, EJ was not a member of Gibbs' team, and he did not see it interfering with his job. If it did, he seemed to imply that he would end it, not Gibbs. In short, his private life was his private life. Gibbs has his opinion on work place romances, an opinion shaped by his own relationship with Jenny. That was his situation; all situations are unique and different. He can say he doesn't think they can work, he can express his opinion and he can say that members of his team can't date. And yes, maybe those members should respect that opnion and that rule, to a point. Gibbs also has to respect the fact that other team leaders may have a different view, and that in the end, NCIS' rules on the matter take precedent over his "Rule 12".

Michael, first off, EJ was a team leader, just like him. He treated her not with the respect that the position merited, but like she was a member of his team, and very much a junior member at that. While I would agree with his assessment of her as both an agent and team leader, the fact remains that's what she was. She was his equal and he did not treat her as such. He was demanding that the relationship between her and Tony end; that simply wasn't the way to go about it. Again, I'm in her position, I tell Gibbs it's none of his business, that NCIS rules and regulations take precedent over his "Rule 12", but that it would be better to discuss it AFTER catching the P2PK.

@Sam How was Gibbs out of line?relationship in the work place never work out good look at CSI if anything Gibbs was saving EJ and Tony

How Tony and Ziva conduct themselves on the team once they enter a relationship, and the manner in which they go about telling Gibbs, will undoubtedly have a bearing on how he reacts and how he deals with it. He might try doing something along the lines of what jaja111 suggested. And while it is true that EJ was not on the same team with Tony, that did not stop Gibbs from reacting as though she was. Frankly, as far as I was concerned, there was no grey area here. Gibbs was simply out of line on it.
