It's inevitable that a show that's been running for eight seasons would have actors who want to leave. Just as well Shonda and ABC had the sense to offer the remaining origials new contracts.
But I agree with PJ, Meredith is the Grey in GA, and I don't think GA would survive her leaving. Some fans of Slexie may stop watching, but GA will run til S10 without them.
Looking forward to the new cast picture!

How is this the new Grey's? It will be the new Grey's if any of the remaining original interns leave and were replaced. It will be the new Grey's if Meredith herself is replaced. Isn't the same as when George and Izzie gone, imo.
This is nothing. Would be worse if either Meredith, Derek, Cristina or Alex leaves.
And I can't see any of the original cast staying past this season to be honest.

I'm not giving up on the show, as cast changes are inevitable down the line. I just really hope they don't add any characters to the main cast. Keep any new characters on a recurring level.
On a side note: You've gotta admit that this is somewhat hilariously ironic. Everyone was worried about the original 6 leaving the show, only to find out that 3 other members had planned to drop out.
Im willing to give this new grey's a try but honestly if it sucks ill probably quit watching altogether. I was totally into Slexy but now that theyre gone idk if its going to be any good. I hope that we get to see more MerDer and Christina and not a bunch of the new cast. It seems like their kind of desperate. they really need to concentrate on the core cast and not on all these new people.
@Bebe I totally agree with your comments about Shonda. She wont know how good she has it till its gone.

The announcement earlier was for 4 new cast members, we only have two named, we haven't seen our new Dr Parker yet. And is Camilla playing Dr Mel Bennett or do we have another actress playing her?
Sad to see our favorites leave but it'll be good to see some new characters/blood on Grey's Anatomy.
Can't wait for some sneak peeks and the premiere on the 27th September.

It's more about the bigger picture than just the actors. The show has had a perfect scenario for years now and actors have come and gone but the core of the show has remained the same. We all hate change and this show has been so amazing that is seems terrible to change any part of it but it would not have worked were it not unable to evolve, so actors may come and go but the vibe of Greys is still as strong as ever

Sounds like to me they're not really as confident as they seem. To me, it looks as if they're worried about losing even more viewers with the loss of these actors (Chyler and Eric in particular, as they were certainly a favorite of that coveted demographic) and they're trying to reassure viewers that no more people will be leaving, and that the show is still as good as ever. Pfftt. Well, it's not. It loses more steam each year, it's just that some of the more loyal and stubborn fans are trying to hold on for the ACTORS' sake, not Shonda's. I always place more value on actors instead of writers, as it gets proven time and again that no matter how mediocre to downright terrible the writing is, the actors still manage to rise above it. The show is proof of that. Once Grey's is done, Shonda will never again have it as good as she did with this show, with the actors she had. Just too bad she had to waste so many unexplored opportunities. No wonder the show doesn't get nominated for Emmys an
