Gossip Girl Season 6 Spoilers: Takedowns, Breakdowns and Sex Tapes, Oh My!

at . Comments

Sex tapes. Heartbreak. Backstabbing. Revenge.

Several relationships unraveled, while one was rekindled as Gossip Girl Season 5 came to a close Monday, ending a turbulent chapter and setting the table for its upcoming swan song with a number of surprising plot lines.

Old faces returned and new adversaries were revealed (sort of). Lonely Boy is again an outsider in earnest. A fallen It Girl has taken her darkest turn yet after sabotaging her best friend. A Dark Knight is desperate to prove himself.

Dan Humphrey and Blair Waldorf

The parallels to the show's 2007 pilot were unmistakable.

“Getting ready for Season 6, everybody re-watched the pilot,” executive producer Stephanie Savage told TV Line. “We talked about what our favorite episodes were, some of our favorite dynamics. We’re leaving it all on the floor.

"We really want [the final season] to count and to be really special. The gang that you saw in that final act of 'The Return of the Ring' will be the main players when we come back.”

Additional excerpts and spoilers from Savage's interview below:

On Blair's return to Chuck: “It was Blair coming to declare that she was in it to win it with Chuck and leaving that [relationship's future] as the question of Season 6. We crafted the last act of the episode to set us in a certain direction next year.”

On how dirty Dan plans on playing in his quest for vengeance, with the help of his new ally: “When you call in Georgina Sparks, you’re not looking to [play nice].”

On Serena's downward spiral: “Feeling like she’s lost Blair, lost Dan, she’s all by herself again. It’s going to put her in a pretty precarious situation.”

On the Derena sex tape: “Well, if somebody had a sex tape on their cell phone, and they said they deleted it, but you never really saw that it was deleted…”

On the big "reveal" and Nate's quest to bring down Gossip Girl: “This is something that has larger implications to the franchise beyond just our series … That reveal requires conversations at the highest level.”

How do you see things playing out? Are Chuck and Blair endgame? Will he and Jack dethrone Bart? Can Ivy take down Lily? How low will S go? Has Dan lost his mind? Will the their sex tape hit the Internet?

And will Gossip Girl finally, after half a decade, be unmasked?

Season 5 was a bore, especially hated that Dan and Blair got together. It will always be Chuck and Blair, Blair and Chuck. I just hope the writers will redeem the show with Season 6.

Blair and Chuck definitely belong together. They're one of the only reasons I watch the show. They belong together. They will never love another, like they love each other. I'd be furious if they didn't marry in the end!

Blair isn't settling for someone who's familar for her, she's settling for the guy she loves. She never loved Dan, she tried too fool herself into believing she did, but watch the scenes between them, he loved her, she didn't love him. It was like the begining of Serena&Dan all over again (book-wise) Dan always loves the girl more then they love him.

Chuck and blair will get back together and Blair will be pregnant again..(is it Dan or Chuck?) Blair will be stepping in her mothers footsteps and start her own 'New' succesfull clothingline. It is so succesfull that Chuck will start a new Hotel together with Jack. Can Jack be his father instead of his uncle...hmm?!
Serena will hit low bottom and get rescued by her new to be lover! But he has a hidden agenda doesnt he? There will be a sextape on the loose (her and Dan's) so Dan is really done with her. Nate comes to her rescue and they will be close friends again.
Dan writes The Inside part 2 and uses Georgina to get all the dirt because she was gossip girl for awhile. By the presentation of his new book, Vanessa will show up> with a child:)....!

man chair sucks!!! its nothing but a reminder of how a typical girl will settle for what is familier instead of experiancing something new and really finding love. her being with dan would of been a great story and it would of sent the right message to people, but all chair shows is how weak the gg staff is easily succuming to thd demands of fair-weather chair fans who in my opinion doesnt know a thing about love.

I can't wait for S6! I'm excited to see what happens with Blair and Chuck! I'm a Chair fan!! And always will be! c:

Chuck and Blair are toxic. You idiots forget how they ruined everyones lives up until season 4. Then chuck became good for like 10 episodes and hes now a saint? Sorry the show from the beginning is al about serena and dan. Who will end up tpgether but dont worry im sure the anti-christ and his skank will get together in the end.

I dont care bout much, so long as chair is the end game. I h8 dair dey wer all wrong. Id rather serenate cuz of non judgin brekfast club and stuff plus derena r on de same family tree so it seems a bit.... Murky

I don't understand why people like this bad boy chuck he is an asswhole. Blair and Dan looked amazing together but never mind, I'm sure the peps that watch the show all want the rich families to get together it sad. Look Dan is always the nice one. But it seems even in season 6 he's goin to be picked on. Just hope the producers have a good ending for him.

And who am I? That's one secret I'll never tell ... You know you love me. XOXO, Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl

[to Jenny] That's the thing. You need to be cool to be queen. Anne Boleyn thought only with her heart and she got her head chopped off. So her daughter Elizabeth made a vow never to marry a man. She married a country. Forget boys. Keep your eye on the prize, Jenny Humphrey. You can't make people love you, but you can make them fear you. For what it's worth, you're my Queen. I choose you.
