Gossip Girl Producers Preview "The Return of the Ring"

by at . Comments

In an extra-long version of their weekly video preview, the producers of Gossip Girl offer us a glimpse of what's to come in Monday night's much-anticipated fifth season finale, "The Return of the Ring."

Their mixture of clips and commentary helps paint a picture of the episode to come, as did the news earlier today that someone sees G.G., like for real, next week. She apparently plays a major role.

A few things we learned from the video below:

  • Serena claims she never intended for Blair's diary to be published, and that she only took a photo of it so she could, only to have Gossip Girl steal her laptop and everything on it.
  • Blair sends her minions to contain the damage, possibly in vain.
  • Dan grows uncomfortable over Chair growing closer together, setting up a clear choice that Blair will make - one way or the other - to finally settle the love triangle in this episode.
  • William van der Woodsen returns, and Lola gets big news that not only impacts not only herself, but her relationship with Nate and quite possibly the future of the Upper East Side.
  • Lily and Rufus have decisions to make that change everything.
  • Gossip Girl's back, in a major way, and is not happy ... she is very ready to prove to everybody just how powerful she is. Sounds ominous, doesn't it? How will it play out?

@ No more Chair,
I agree, I never shipped Chair but i liked them till the hotel debacle then Chair was something repulsive....I shipped Derena but it just ended so that was that.I don't think anyone said Dan was perfect just that he is good for Blair .
@People Change
As far as Chair fans are concerned only Chuck can change but did he the minute he sent the blast in GGs site during CeCe's wake well what a wonderful change *sarcasm*.
Chair fans are so angry with Blair for things that Chuck has done Blair ,may be he was a teen when he did that so whatever he did in his teens to Blair she should just forget wow what a logic ,I don't know whether you people know teens get hurt too
Also i think when Rufus tells about how special Dan is (smart and all) those are not expectations. It does not matter whether you are UES or not every parent has expectations with their Child.Dan is not a true UES person so what's your point...

@Ninque, Elizabeth has not sent a picture to Nate, a private detective Andrew Tyler found a photo of Jack and Elizabeth. Well if you remember Elizabeth said to Chuck why she helps Jack (back in season 3) - because she is in love with Jack. Elizabeth is Chuck's mother, but she loves Jack.

Twilight, you are so right! And he should add one more question- why the hell is 'uncle Jack' holding Elizabeth's bump on the photo Elizabeth sent to Nate, not so very long ago! And why the he** did she help Jack at that awfull scheming if she really is Chuck's mother?!?

screw blair waldorf... chuck should be more concerned with locking his dad in a room and getting him to tell him the REAL story of his youth. Just because you find out dad is alive, do you forget you still don't know what the heck is the truth about your mom. And why the heck if Jack knew about bart all this time why did he do all those awful things to chuck.

Oh and her diary has been leaked! I still keep one, though many don't anymore, if it was on the internet for all the world to see, I'd be panicking too.

As for Dan; I'll ignore his hair, even though that's hard, because someone's personal appearance should not be taken into account. He's been there for Blair a lot over this year but the way he treated Serena was pretty low. After all, he did once claim to love her. If he's capable of treating Serena like that, who he ended on good terms with, it's only the beginning for what's in store when he realizes that Blair really isn't as committed as he wants her to be. Give the girl a chance to breath dude! She just lost a baby (though she doesn't seem to remember that), got divorced, got in a car accident, gave up Chuck for God (glad they dropped that), and various other incidents. Also apparently Bart Base is alive, because the Devil can't die. You pick now to drop the L bomb?

Both these relationships are past enduring. Chuck may be an asshole but how many times does the guy have to beg? Either you forgive him or dump him. It could be said that he deserves both. About the hotel/money issues, Chuck and Blair come from a world where money is treated differently. They both have extremely materialistic backgrounds, so its no surprise both of them have sold each other out on multiple occasions. Chuck for a hotel, Blair for a tiara, to name just one each. Chuck jumps in the arms of another immediately afterwards, so does Blair. Nate (twice), Lord Marcus, Louis (twice), Carter, Cameron, Jack (almost twice), now Dan. They've both behaved badly towards each other in varying degrees. It's the inevitable outcome when you play games with the people you love. Those great expectations and planned lives like the other characters. He doesn't have those issues as well.

@No More Chair You implied that she was going back to a dysfunctional relationship which she is not. That's what all of us picked up. Anyways no one said Blair isn't allowed to change but the change. Its just that her character seems to has changed the worse. All she thinks about is herself and I have not seen a strong goal orientated Blair this whole season. There's a difference between positive change and negative change. Blair used to be my favorite too but now she's just annoying and quite frankly aggrevating to watch with all this goig back business. Can you really tell me that you knew everything and the right answer at that age? Yes you have a sense of right and wrong but honestly this issues he delt with are issues that no one deals with at that age. Also he realized it was a mistake and faced the consequences. Dan is a whole other issue and character that has also done some pretty horrible things for his own advatage. Also Dan isnt a true UESer. He never had all those great expectations and planned lives that the other did. Hence he doesn't have some of those issues.
