Gossip Girl Season Finale Spoilers: Return of the ...

at . Comments

The CW has released its official synopsis for the upcoming fifth season finale of Gossip Girl, airing Monday, May 14. On that night, Blair Waldorf makes a choice between the two men in her life.

The episode title: "The Return of the Ring."

There's a lot else going on in this installment, which executive producer Josh Safran told us will include a major cliffhanger and forever alter the fabric of the show. Here's what lies in store ...

Blair at the Party
  • When Gossip Girl goes after Blair as she’s never done before, Serena admits she may have unintentionally played an important role in Blair’s latest nightmare.
  • Lily must make a big decision about the future of her marriage.
  • Nate invites Lola to move in with him.
  • Finally, by episode’s end, Blair will make a choice between the two men in her life... will it be Chuck or Dan?

Sounds like an intense episode. What do you think turns Gossip Girl against Blair so dramatically? Does this mean she wrests back control of the site? And will Serena's role as Gossip Girl 3.0 be exposed?

Can Rufus and Lily survive, and will the lovely Lola accept Nate's bold request?

Finally, do you think the episode's title implies that Chuck's engagement ring will make another appearance? Will Blair actually choose Dan for the long haul if Chuck makes one final play for her affections?

Two episodes remain ("Raiders of the Lost Art" and "The Fugitives") between now and then, and the possibilities for our beloved characters are endless, especially in light of recent developments.

UPDATE, 5/2: There are rumors of a Derena reunion, as well as a Monaco trip. Serena's role remains unclear, but part of the finale does take place overseas, and at least two central characters are there.

UPDATE, 5/3: Apparently Serena is getting a "new" love interest ... who we already know. And the choice Blair makes will NOT be a cliffhanger. She will make a clear choice, one way or the other.

UPDATE, 5/11: According to new intel, someone will “see” Gossip Girl, while the final scene will feature two characters - one male, one female - and does not take place in New York. So ... there you go.

@zoran: i so totally agree about rufly:-) i think they will solve their marriage.. but stay happy together.
that leads the way that serena can become a mrs humphrey in the future!
who knows.

@pty,Not only in India and China are fans of Chuck and Blair. I can tell you that most of Europeans are their fans. Too bad that the writers are not interested in our opinion.

This post explains all my love for Chair.

blair is gonna choose dan....and d return of the ring simplifys a promise ring dan gave to blair when he was abt leaving for rome.....he's gonna be bk for her....bt can she wait till he comes bak......????.......dair forever.....

RETURN OF THE RING HAS nothing to do with Lily and Rufus. If Bart is alive, then the marriage between Lily and Rufus is not valid. Maybe that's why Lily has to make choices - whether to divorce of Bart or returns to Rufus? If so, Lily will be divorce to Bart, but I do not think she will be re-marry to Rufus, and they will be together, of course, in season 6. RETURN OF THE RING only has to do with Chuck and Blair. However I do not think just now Chuck will propose to Blair, it would be good if he wants! I think Chuck will be back to buy the same ring from Harry Winston ( for Blair). And what will be, remains to be seen in season 6.

I think in the finale of the series they all should have group sex or something because it's a habit of the characters of GG to sleep around with everyone they hardly talk to. The creators might even invite all the guest stars from all of the seasons to take part, which would be the most epic series finale in the history of TV.
The last people who actually didn't end up in a bed with each other are Chuck and Serena (thanks God!). If it happened there would be nothing left to destroy.
I would only like Chuck leaving for the new life somewhere far away from all that circus, with his last words to be "good bye, schizophrenics!", cause he's the last one in the show who is capable of normal mental processes

Don't forget to check out the pics of Ed and Leighton in China at the Harry Winston event. They are awesome!

I'm really confused when people say that Dair has been going since season 1.... what? We must be watching different shows because they only interacted about 3 times in the first season and all those times they seemed to just be insulting each other constantly. I don't understand. For me, Dair has maybe been building up since the end of season 4, but then was put on hold, and started up again once Blair and Louis divorced. Any Dair fans who claim it has been building up since season 1, please enlighten me!

If Dan really loved Blair he would do the right thing and end the nonsense that is Dair

Oh really? You Dair fans are REACHING. When has Dan and Blair being a couple EVER been a central theme of the show (except in the last few episodes.) I do believe, it is Chair that has been one of the central pairings for the entire run of the show. You call us petty, shallow and stupid all you want. We're not a small group of followers. Don't believe me? Head to Twitter every Monday night and see what's RULING the WORLDWIDE trending topics at number 1 and 2. CHAIR FANS. Dan and Blair were fantastic as friends. They had witty banter, intellectual similarities and fun interactions. The GGwriters gave you guys a payoff, that's all it was. If Blair was SO madly in love with Dan, why only 4 episodes before her and Dan did she and Chuck have a flawlessly written scene before her wedding. Chuck and Blair are endgame. Dan is a great guy, yes. And he deserves someone who understands that greatness. As is Chuck. He's had his low moments, as well as his high times. Yet, Blair has stuck by him even in his darkest hour (may I remind you of when Bart Bass died?) Blair and Dan respect each other and understand each other, sure. But Chuck and Blair ARE each other. "The next time you forget you're Blair Waldorf, remember I'm Chuck Bass...and I love you."

I don't want to be Mr. Blair Waldorf. I'm Chuck Bass.

You say I always bet against you. Not this time. I'm all in.
