Stephen Amell as The Green Arrow: First Look!

The CW is getting a major head start on its marketing for Arrow, the upcoming drama that stars Stephen Amell in the iconic comic book role of Oliver Queen/The Green Arrow.

By releasing the first promotional photo of Amell in costume! Already! Check it out now:

The Green Arrow First Look

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR FIRST LOOK AT THE CW'S THE GREEN ARROW?

Included along with the press release, Executive Producer David Nutter says:

“When I directed the pilot for Smallville, I knew that making Clark Kent relatable would be the key to audiences believing in him as a hero. Arrow is a different show - darker and harder-edged - but it’s the same core idea. We’re creating a real, believable world in which Oliver Queen can do incredible things. [Costume designer] Colleen Atwood’s great work on the Arrow costume reflects that effort.”

The official tagline for the series, meanwhile, reads:

After being marooned for five years on a remote island, former billionaire playboy Oliver Queen returns with a mysterious agenda and a lethal set of new skills that he uses in a war on crime.

CUT OFF -- I like a good supernatural TV series, like Lost Girl & Grimm. Dark & edgy. So here's hoping CW shows the true nature of Ollie Arrow. In green leather, but please CUT THE SLEEVES!!! And yea, gotta have the beard; that's part of 'ole Ollie's Robin Hood nature.

Looking forward to a non-Justin Hartley GA, and what's this i read someone saying that GA is part of Superman's world fighting all The Supe's villains!? Ever read DC comics? First off, any one in the DC verse is part of everyone elses' world - as in JLA. In fact, GA's bad-ass attitude keeps him away from always being part of "The Gang". Superman is in Metropolis (basically NYC, as Gotham is but w/ more of a Boston tone). Ollie Queen operates out of Emerald City (basically Seattle, Washington). And GA has a plethora of his own Super-Bad-Guys. There's a whole lotta story about the real Ollie-Arrow that was not told in Tiny Town - a sad excuse for a teenage soap opera dressed up in everything but The Cape. But it lasted 10 years, 'cause of all the loving, touching & squeezing. Please, none of that w/ The Arrow!!! CW can do away w/ Secret Circle or Dixie Hart for all I care: they're just 2 more teenage soap-operas, the Circle w/ some supernatural Twilight twisted junk. I like a good s'

Looks good. But CW must not cancel anything for it. Not yet.

I do dig the whole Gothic look but whats the point of making Green Arrow when we have seen all his story and romances in Smallville. I know it'll be different from Smallvill as it add his romances and villains from Superman's world but still ... no super power just skills mmmmm lets see

What happened to Justin Hartley who played him on Smallville?

spooky enough to be fascinating, i will definitely give it a try, don't like Smallville that much because it is to cheesy and beautiful and magazine looking, hoping this will be edgier and darker and more seductive and mysterious.

If CW does not renew Nikita then to hell with this Green Arrow and all their shows.
