When I first watched this episode I was very satisfied with it and was super excited. Is it because I love the characters so much? That every time Kol/Klaus/Elijah/Caroline or Damon came onto the screen I just feel so happy that I forget about the storyline? Anyways though I was on the edge of my seat the whole hour and was shocked when they daggered Kol, turned Abby into a vampire, and with two cliffhangers, after I finished watching the episode I felt disappointed. First of all, I was expecting the Originals to game-on and have serious confrontations with their mother. Wasn’t that what this episode was supposed to be about? An epic Original showdown? But instead, what happened? Basically nothing! Except for Esther talking to her children, and while her words were pretty deep, when the spell failed Esther and Finn just fled and the other Originals were unharmed and just stood there and did nothing! And then Kol just left, and Elijah starts to leave to.
IT highlighted on what a mary sue Elena is. Oh she is so compassionate, oh she is so caring about enemies, oh she is such awesome person. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. We already know she is a bella swan, but the level at which the writers are in love with her is ridiculous.
Esther plot was pointless. It got us nowhere. Show continues to stumble along doing nothing important
Originals became even more wimpy and boring, and eveyrone (even my beautiful Caroline) was bland and boring.
Bonnie was again disregarded by writers, Meredith is still annoying and pointless and nowhere close to book-Meredith and the show just slugs forward without direction.

the episode past to fast, this could be pulled over 3 episodes! Really dissappointed the Worst instalment of the season til now!
Highlights Caroline scenes! Just perfect! Really loved her being bitchy and loving to Klaus! And her talk to Elena was done very well!
Elijahs talk to Becca was nice as well!
Thought there would be at least some more fighting killing Originals in this episode!
And this shit was handled stupid! Why didn't they used a locator spell and found Elena, and dagered Becca and rescue Elena! Esther would help them as well! BAD WRITING THIS TIME AROUND!

Well, I really don't care what happens to Bonny, never have, never will. Her mother was turned? big deal, we hardly know her mother or hardly see Bonny at all, and now we are suppose to care? It doesn't work that way.
And meredith, the same goes for that storyline. It wasn't untill they told me that I remembered there is a killer on the loose. We have hardly seen Meredith. Wanna bet she is something supernatural and Alarc survives?

It sucked, basically. All the good plot lines were ended in stupid ways (I don't care who you ship, their ending to the D/E plot line was lame)and there were no real shockers. Yes, I said it on the EW website, but I'll say it again here: Kevin Williamson, come back to TVD full time!

If Elijah is really gone I will FREAK THE FREAK out!!!!!!
He is my favorite original and I was rooting for him to become besties with Stefan. Who wouldn't want those two hotties (Damon included, okay and Klaus), that dinner few weeks ago was the best scene eve!
Alaric can't be dead because they already talked about having more background of why Alaric is a vampire hunter and talks about it with Elena.
Crazy doctor gave me impression she knew Cole.

I'm sorry Vampire diaries but the whole character building and suddenly pulling the plug off prematurely is lame.Since there's a build up why not have a story ark for them.Poor Elijah I wanted him to stay.

My biggest question is: is Alaric dead? I mean I know he was wearing his ring, but Meredith isn't supernatural so doesn't that mean that he's going to die now that she shot him, and plus she knows about his ring! Also I hope Elijah isn't gone for too long, I love him!

I rarely disagree with the reviews on here, like ever. But I hated this episode. Bonnie's mother getting turned into a vampire? Seriously? The white oak tree had a sapling? Great, so now there's that. Elena has compassion? Most of the time, not enough compassion to actually get anything done or make a good decision. I feel there is a decline in one the greatest shows of our time.

In this weeks episode of TVD Jacob pretends to not care that Edward is actively pursuing Bella again. He's not drinking blood and he's acting like wimpy Edward again. Jacob, long suffering guy that he is, gets over his love for bella quickly so we can get back to the Edward Bella relationship as soon as possible.....yuck!
ALSO as much as I don't want to Alaric to be dead, it's getting kind of old with him dying almost every episode and then coming back. What is this like the 10th time this season? Boring, either kill him or leave him alone for a but!
If Meredith is going after humans connected with vampire methinks Matt is next on her lit! Could be interesting.
ALSO im totally over Bonnie. This is a repeat of season 1 after grams died. Bonnie gets mad at Elena whenever things go wrong. Yes input was to save Elena but Bonnie has helped kill people in the past to help save Elena (John Gilbert, uncle mason). It's time to write bonnie off the show she is a plot device and an annoying one at that.
I hope this isn't the end of klaus and Caroline!
I thought the tree cliffhanger was dumb but Alaric getting shot was awesome. This is one of my favorite episodes of the season by far. Can't wait for march 15th!!

But I hoped it's not nipped in the bud. Maybe Caroline could even do a little thing to turn things around and make it up to Klaus. He'd so fancy that. I think...
Loved the entire episode. So much was going on with every character but they managed to connect them all. Characters like Caroline and Alaric who usually are off doing their own things still managed to incorporate their romances (klaus and Meredith respectively) while at the same time incorporating them into the main plot. Genius.
I also was NOT expecting them to turn Bonnie's mother into a vampire. As soon as I saw it I said Why didn't I think of that!? The writers on this show time and time again prove how clever they are at giving us twists.
Sad to see Elijah go but there isn't a ton to do with his character now that he's moral (plus the actor has another show lol) but Im super happy rebekkah and klaus are sticking around. Most developed originals! Make rebekkah a series regular please.

Great episode the weird thing about this show is that Elena is the most boring and dumb character. I realize that she is supposed to be the "star" and was in the books. But ,quite frankly, she is the least interesting and wimpiest character on the show.
Bring back Tyler and Jeremy. I agree that Klaus, Elija et al are the most interesting currently.

I really am intrigued by the fac that esther wanted to turn them back!! That will be a very interesting plot , also did you notice that the only one who wasnt afected by kol being daggered was Klaus he felt it but didnt "die" that must mean something we just need to se what. And also i LOVE Klaus and Caroline i m dying to see more of that but she is really mean with him i dont see how could she foregive him, i really love to watch that side of Klaus like if he were a teenage boy LOVED IT

Yep called it. Bonnie's mom turning, not surprised, is she going to hang around long? No she will most likely be gone by the end of this season or next. Like I said Vampire Diaries is hell bent on killing off every parent figure on the show. They are introduced so they can be killed off.
Moving on to Damon, he love life is probably more miserable then Alaric's. That probably the reason they make such good friends.

Very VERY generic episode:
