  1. Fruit Salad

Finally, as I'm getting kinda hungry and would like to stop talking before I'm reported for spam, I just have one little statement to make:
I'm officially over Delena and Stelena.
It's just too dull and predictable. And yes, Elena's become Katherine, but at least Katherine was a bitch and she knew it. Elena's just getting more and more pathetic as every day goes by, she should cut it off with both of them before she completely severs the bond between the brothers(which I used to love more than anything until that too became predictable) and marry a damn human(but not Matt, as he deserves better). Then perhaps people would stop dying or having their lives ruined.

  2. Fruit Salad

Elijah - he's my favorite character, he's the only one who hasn't lost his thunder(I'm sorry, Damon) or gotten killed(RIP Jenna, Anna, Pearl and Rose). He's the reason I still watch this show. And though I adored him today, I'm kind of terrified by his words - 'As I will carry my regret, always and forever' - please, Plec, please tell me he's not going to spend the rest of his life in a dark loft somewhere staring into a wall! If the writers are seriously going to send him off somewhere(perhaps he's in Detroit with Katherine, Jeremy and Tyler? Who's gonna be the next to join them - Alaric? 'I kinda need to get a non-supernatural girlfriend, so bye all!') and then have him return at the end of the season and get himself killed, I will become one of those crazy fans that sends JP death threats.

  3. Fruit Salad

Then there's Elena's adventures. I'd been looking so much forward to seeing her guilt-ridden after her betrayal, watch her struggle with that until she decides to do the right thing and actively try to save Elijah. But, no. Rather, Elijah had to figure things out for himself, force the truth out of her, listen to her pathetic excuses. He had every damn right to be pissed. And then, Elena got to play damsel in distress - until she found the one vamp-proof cave in an endless web of caves, that is. Girl's got skills!

  4. Fruit Salad

As for Klaus' adventures with Caroline, I don't really have much to say about that. The whole thing was just so forced and pointless, he's been reduced to a pathetic brat with a crush on a girl way outta his league. At first, in Our Town, I figured he was planning to use her on some evil scheme, but no! He's genuinely interested in an 18 year old vampire who's already in love with someone else. And lovely and insightful as she may be, I just don't see what she has that has a 1000 year old vampire who's done it all, seen it all, crushing on her.

  5. Fruit Salad

Klaus and Kol's interaction was funny and brotherly, but throughout the whole thing I was wondering if Kol's really that shallow. I thought he hated Klaus' guts! And yet there he was, having a good time with the guy who'd shut him in a coffin for a century? And just the day before he'd been ice-cold and hostile. Again, what am I missing? And I'm sick of Originals being killed so easily. Seriously? These guys have been around for 1000 years, they have the best hearing and speed in the world not to mention tons of experience and yet Alaric killed him right there, simply because Kol was distracted by a hot chick. I get that he’s a fun and reckless guy, but that’s bit of a far shot.

  6. Fruit Salad

Rather, they gave us that crap at the Grill. Just a few days ago, three at most, Alaric was convinced Meredith was a psychotic killer. And yet now he's hanging out at the bar with her? What am I missing? Did they have some off-screen bonding at the hospital? Why the HELL did Damon leave him with her? Which makes me wonder what made Alaric look through her stuff. That would mean he still suspected her, and if he did, then why did he look so happy at being all alone and unarmed in her apartment?

  7. Fruit Salad

And speaking of bad communication - why the hell didn't we get to see Rebekah's reaction to Esther's plan? - this is the little girl who was traumatized by the loss of her beloved mother, whose world was shattered when she learnt the truth of her death. And yet we don't get a single interaction between them or even Rebekah's reaction to her mother's betrayal. Why didn't we get to see that, by the time? Elijah and Rebekah are great together, them putting their heads together would be GREAT, and we could have seen Elijah's face when he told her to hold Elena hostage.

  8. Fruit Salad

But onto the episode - which was supposed to be an epic Original showdown, like the ending of Bringing out the Dead. I'd been looking forward to seeing Klaus, Elijah, Kol and Rebekah, all in one room, agreeing to put their differences aside and work together against their brother and mother(speaking of Finn - the suicidal, self-loathing Original - I'd very much like to know more about him, have a little bit more than a few ultra-depressed sentences to work on - sure, he wants to die, but he wants to take his siblings with him? What's made him so hateful? Klaus I can understand, but the others? I'm dying to know more about him). Instead, all we get is an adorable sibling banter between Klaus, Kol and Rebekah, even though they were at each other's throats just yesterday, and then Elijah fetches Kol and Klaus and whatever happens between the three of them before they arrived at the sacrifice scene is unknown, never for any fan to be witnessed.

  9. Fruit Salad

I agree with most of the people here - this episode was incredibly disappointing. It was too fast-paced, too rushed, lacked things I'd like to see and too much of things I've no interest in, like Klaroline. What the hell is that, anyway? I've lost every last shred of respect for Klaus thanks to that nonsense. It's pathetic!

  10. Layna

I Really liked to see Klaus and Caroline together or a triangle with them and tyler but to see the bad guy fall for Caroline ....and omg delana was so close to happening..and jeremy come back bonnie needs you ....

  11. Terra Banks

Meredith the killer. For a show whose surprises are usually refreshing, this seemed to playing the 'so obvious so you don't suspect it' card and the gamble didn't pay off.

Bonnie is losing a lot. Why? Elena doesn't HAVE anyone left to lose (all 5 parent figures are long gone) and they just killed Caroline's dad. Naturally it's Bonnie's turn to suffer.

Rebekah was supposed to be this lie-detector (she called out Stefan’s poker face); how did Elena fool her? Then again, the girl takes whatever attention she can get from anyone, proved that with Matt and Damon. Haha Matt Damon.

The originals have grown on me. They're all so beautiful and tortured with family drama. I like Kol's charisma despite his wickedness and short spotlight.

You're right. Stefan and Damon have the most dynamic, interesting relationship and it’s so subtle it feels natural. I doubt any two people on this show love each other truly more than these two.

    Klaroline! Don’t die!

  12. Pam

I agree with everything you said. However the show was so fast paced that all of your musings about character motivations were difficult to set in while watching.

I definitely agree that if Ether could make vampires human again why not just stop there? AND I see that little nugget of spelliciousness coming back to spawn a Salova baby. Don't you? Or at least make one of the Salvatores human. Let's see how Elena reacts to that one if it ever happens.

Also agree that the cliffhangers really left me with a lack luster feeling to see the next ep. At this point I can definitely wait for March 15 and not even feel like I am going through TVD withdrawal, which will be good for my marriage.

  13. Mutt

Sorry Matt, nothing "heart-pounding" about this episode at all. It was stupid and shows poor writing. Hey, LJ Smith needs a new gig....

  14. Gig4528

Im not a shipper either way, but this episode was terrible. Terrible. The writers seemed to abandon everything they had tried to set up for the whole season in one big messy, pointless, boring mess. What mother kills her children? They knew it was stupid so reset! Stefan the ripper, reset! Daniel gillies gets a new show, reset! Damon loves Elena, oops , reset! Rebekah hated klaus, reset! This whole season I have been struggling to find a direction and the episode is the worst.

  15. sarah

Matt I think you miss typed 2 things...when writing about Rebekah you said Caroline wanted to fit it at school
and you said Esther and Finn left and Finn scattered...you mean't Kol scattered

  16. meah

arrggh!!Delena shippers annoy me.any episode that is not delena-centric is bad..get over it.we watch TVD cos of amazing cast not delena or stelena!!Let us just enjoy the show!!

  17. Partial

@zappa Elijah is leaving cause Daniel G got another show.

  18. zappa

Great episode. All I can say is that Elijah better not be leaving! He is such a well written character, not to mention Daniel Gillies is beyond perfect in his portrayal of him.

  19. sarah

I guess Rebekah is not the baddie that she pretends to be, there were many reasons for her not killing Elena.
So happy we that we are getting good Stefan back, I love him not matter what but he is best as the caring Stefan and he has not had human blood since he tried to drive Elena off the bridge. So we know that he and Elena will get back together sooner rather than later.
I love to hate Elijah, he foiled the dagger plan but you can tell in the end he regretted it, the letter to Elena was very sweet, he and Elena are the same they both would do anything for the people they love, no matter who they hurt in the process
The oak tree has grown again!

  20. sarah

The dagger plan was good idea in theory but it did not affect Klaus. Even though we have season 1 evil Damon back you know deep down that he did not want he or Stefan to have to kill Bonnie or her mother but there was no getting around it. I also knew that Stefan lost the coin toss and that Damon would do the killing either way but Damon decided to turn Abby into a vampire rather than just kill her and leave her dead. I think at first Bonnie will feel it is worse to have her mom as a vampire but in the end I think she wants her around not matter what so she will eventually see it was the better of the two options that Damon had.
My heart broke when Caroline was talking to Elena and told her to leave Bonnie alone for awhile and that Bonnie is always the one that gets hurt. True Bonnie loses alot BUT so does Elena.

That tree, can't believe it's still there. True I was interested in the cave, now that we had a better look at it, but that, sometimes, dumb of Elena might not have take a good look. Did they even take that sign before? Love the episode though. Wow, so exciting !
Next month, man, I'm gonna starve !
P.S. : Caroline and Klaus, phew I gotta say, that gave me the creeps ! Shocker ! But I feared the producer might do something like that when he saved her, but hoped I was wrong. A Forwood fan, that was just...he's Tyler's syre ! Soooo weird, but, in all his evil, Caroline has reached out to a place in him. Seing him burn the drawing feeling betrayed gave me a small pang in the heart. Well, what do you know !

  22. sarah

    I loved this episode!
They can not kill off Alaric, Elena can not lose anyone else she cares about, so we will see what will happen on March 15
I am sure everyone new Meredith was bad from the first time she appeared on screen, at least I did. Damon was right!
Speaking of Damon he summed it up best when he said the was best at being evil!
Eventhough he told Elena that sleeping with Rebekah was not about her, it so obviously was!

And the reviewer Matt seemed to lean towards being a Delena shipper and he was satisfied with that lame reset to season 1 scene? That was stupid and Ian even seemed to play it like... Wtf?!?

/Damon. Doing this to her... Awful. I would never, ever forgive them, ALL. They used her, to what, save Elena ! Her MOM, whom she hadn't seen in YEARS, sorry but no.
Esther wanting to kill her children, SERIOUSLY?! That's pushing it! A mother doing this, wow, gotta have so stomach ! But yep, they not better that anybody, even Elijah.
Alaric, dude, YOU ARE FOOL ! U blithering idiot ! The Meredith woman, for crying out loud, u can tell that she ain't, well, proper ! Now if he dies...don't even get me started !
