Everyone on this show has suffered dramatically and just because she is the main character, doesn't mean everyone (aka Salvatores) should bend backwards for only her and not give a damn about anyone else. They killed her best friend's MOM just to save her, yes there weren't other ways to save Elena, but it just further proves the flawed writing of this show, that this character is a Mary Sue. She wasn't almost staked by Damon the night she first turned. She wasn't getting shit from Elena for being forced to work with Katherine. She wasn't getting tortured in a cage by werewolves for hours. She wasn't being hated by her own mother and her own mother did not call her a monster. She wasn't being tortured in a cell for hours by her own father and her own father did not call her a monster. Try visiting the forum sometime, your logic would be greatly admired by us. The amount of people Elena lost doesn't give her the biggest sympathy card, Bonnie had TWO relatives killed because of Elena and her Salvatore boyfriends.

The strange woman in his past will probably end up on the show and adding more cast could make the mysteries get more boring. If they cause problems,then they have obviously got to go. I agree with Carly to some degree about the teen show thing, the teen drama's of today are all in the same league as TVD, I'd most likely compare them to TVD, than buffy since they have more similarities. I'd always rather compare Buffy with Charmed, since they had a similar format, although I prefer Charmed, since Buffy was a bit too dark for me. I do agree that Buffy didn't think with her hormones, that's bull. I'd like to know what things TVD ripped off from Buffy, cause I can't think about any at this particular moment.
Buffy was a supernatural show at it's core, so it had a wide demographic, which they catered to, a lot of people forget that TVD is still a teen show with supernatural elements.
Yet again wrong. All the supernatural stuff was a placebo. You could replace the supernatural stuff with anything you want and it would still be same coming-of-age story of her life and lives of everyone around her.
BTVS was NOT defined by its genre, it explored all the issues the "teen shows" are supposed to explore.

Buffy was awesome BECAUSE she had understandable flaws the show accepted as EXISTING. She was selfish, egoistic, a bit hypocritical woman with tendency to manipulate people, however the show did not portray her as mary sue, as something BETTER than everyone.
Her flaws were explored and contrasted. Her opinion, stance and position, constantly challenged by differing opinions and she was called out on her bullshit more than once. Also she had personality and character development making us CARE for her mistakes, tragedies and consequences(her mistakes actually had far reaching consequences unlike Elena Swan's)
While Elena is being portrayed as this perfect mary sue too good for this world that her perfection even makes Elijah depressed.

When and if she would screw up things the show and the characters would admit it and there would be consequences and it would be used to develop her character. She also had a personality for viewers to actually CARE about her, unlike Elena Swan.
Elena, on other hand, is bland boring "miss perfect" mary sue whom everyone loves and who cares for the whole world and converses with animals and birds, bla bla bla. It already got old all the way back in S1.
Elena : I just want to kill her. It's that simple.
