The Big Bang Theory Review: The End of the Roommate Agreement?

at . Comments

Could the Roommate Agreement finally be revoked? It would be too much to hope for, right?

Sheldon's ways have dominated the Sheldon-Leonard relationship for far too long. Why does Leonard stay? Why are any of the guys friends with Sheldon? He is demanding, stubborn, selfish, and well... Sheldon!

Leonard had finally had enough in "The Friendship Contraction" and told Sheldon "no" to driving him to the dentist. Really, it was Sheldon's own fault with the Emergency Preparedness Test and the ribbing that went with the middle of the night wake-up horn.

Really, Sheldon?!?

But Sheldon didn't take Leonard's rejection well at all. If you say "no" to Sheldon, you are removed from friend status. Would Leonard have opted out of the Roommate Agreement years ago if he knew it was an option? Unfortunately, The Big Bang Theory episodes are self-contained because I would have loved to see the "'Sup" Sheldon and Leonard relationship carry over a few more episodes.

I loved the long list of errand requests that his friends ignored, which included the Dentist, getting new heels put on dress shoes, Dermatologist, Allergist, Podiatrist, Super Cuts, and Ikea (they do have delicious Swedish meatballs!). Even Stuart wouldn't help Sheldon. Though Sheldon's approach left much to be desired.

For reasons well beyond my comprehension, Leonard must be the perfect lackey for Sheldon. Because he is the only sucker in the group, Sheldon had to force his way back into Leonard's good graces. The plan? A building wide blackout! Though without Penny's pushing Leonard back to Sheldon, I don't think it would have happened.

By the way, how cute are the beta testing couple of Penny and Leonard? Too adorable!

In the end, I can't believe we are back where we started, with the exception of the addition of a "Leonard Day." He did agree to re-sign the Roommate Agreement, right? A little disappointing, but a highlight is we will most likely get to experience an episode around Leonard's day. The day when it is all about him, but he doesn't really get much other than a card.

While that storyline took most of the episode, some of the funniest parts were around Howard and his need for a space-worthy nickname. It was surprising that Raj didn't know about Buzz Aldrin since he is a scientist, but regardless it was hilarious. Buzz, Crash, Rocket Man!

Of course, Howard's mother had to ruin his big moment. So, it is Howard "Fruit Loops" Wolowitz!

Do you think it would have been funnier for the show going forward if the Roommate Agreement was back in full force, it was amended somehow or it was thrown out entirely?
Don't forget, of course to check out our The Big Bang Theory quotes. There were some funny ones about poop, Brown Dynamite, and glow sticks!

I think Raj not knowing who Buzz Aldrin is, is a real screw up imho. I didn't even laugh at the buzz lightyear joke because I was almost pissed off. First of all he is an Astrophysicist....ya know like stars, galaxies and the freaking moon! Raj knows abt American comics and all kinds of uber nerd stuff and he doesn't know something related to his field?! We all know who Buzz Aldrin is we are not even Astrophysicists! That was really sloppy...nobody in the whole tbbt gang caught this???!!!

@Lelarose I agree. While I love how the characters have started off; they're bland now. Raj has no hope of ever being with a woman without alcohol, Sheldon's unique qualities will prevent him from ever living a normal lifestyle without depending on anyone, Howard will always be sheltered by his mother and therefore will not be able to commit to anyone. Leonard has the best chance of living a normal, happy life in my eyes. But the show can't do anything of what I said. That would mean taking risks, which others may like and some may not. Would I ever want Raj to get over his mutism when he's around girls? Yes and no. Would I ever want Howard to stop being so dependant on his mother? Yes... then no.

Where is this show going? It seems to be running out of ideas. The characters are stuck in a loop. What are the plans for the next couple of years? Leonard and Sheldon are still miserable in their apartment? Penny is still a waitress? Raj remains dateless? Howard marries Bernadette but still lives with his mother? I get that its a sitcom but there needs to be some character growth otherwise its just doomed to repeat the same plotlines and jokes over and over again.

The problem is that we're getting too much Sheldon. The show is starting to move in a direct where Leonard is actually the main character again, this only seems to happen when he's obsessing over Penny but hey, I'll take it. I wouldn't have minded this episode if Sheldon had been sincere about Leonard's Day. That would have made Penny's comments about his loneliness justifiable, as it stands now, they were random. And you'd realistically expect me to believe that Leonard would willingly leave a hot girl, wine, and bubble wrap? To see Sheldon and be treated like crap again???

But if he would change - i can already hear people say: aaah thats not sheldon anymore and i hate it bla bla -
change him - at least a little bit, 5 seasons of annoying, mean Sheldon is enough

I agree with LelaRose & everyone else who is SICK of Sheldon's crapola lol! I mean in the 5th season of this show and everything his learn about human emotion and caring from ALL the OTHERS! you would think he would be nicer but his just meaner and just a total arse to Penny!!!!!!!! which is so crap, I mean Penny has helped and cared for Sheldon sooooooooooooo many times, especially with the SOFT Kitty crap lol. i would like to see him Care for her MORE. & I think the show is REALLY pushing it with Sheldon NEVER having sex! No gnatles in deed. lol

Being Canadian, I really enjoyed the secret plot Sheldon thinks we have to invade the U.S. Trust me, there isn't one. No offense but the U.S has too much going on right now. That and our population is pretty sparse in comparison to America :p I'm also sick of Sheldon too. He's become unbearable to watch. The entire point of this season was that Leonard was learning to man up when it came to Penny but to watch him act like retiring wallflower around Sheldon was just annoying. Grow some balls already. He was so close this time around!!!

Sheldon has a license but not a car. He can't drive back from the dentist because he'd be groggy from anesthesia.

The Big Bang Theory Season 5 Episode 15 Quotes

If I had one, mine would be "Brown Dynamite."

Leonard: Sheldon, Canada is not going to invade California.
Sheldon: Yeah, really? You think those hippies in Washington and Oregon can stop them?
