I think Blair and Dan is an unexpected but surprisingly comforting move. I love it. The best relationships are those which derives from the best foundations: Friendship, trust, loyalty and an understanding of who they truly are. They hated each other at first. Then they grew to tolerate each other. To learn from each other..to laugh with each other..until they became friends. They found comfort, solace in times of need and in time..they found love. It's a beautiful relationship they've grown to have - and it's the most realistic. He fell in love with her not despite who she is, but because! Falling in love with his protagonist was sort of a pattern for him but, with Blair, there is no secrets, no inner faults waiting to come out and veer him away from his ideal character..he knows who she is, how she works and vice versa - and they still couldn't help but fall in love. I hope it lasts and it would be a shame if it didn't!

I do not think that getting Blair and Dan together right now was a very good idea. If they had done it without the whole marriage sham, an in the last season, then it would have been great. But after seeing this season, I don't think that the writers would have the courage to make them endgame, and will break their wonderful relationship through the only method they know. By making them hate each other, and thus will end the most beautiful friendship created by this show.

I believe it will be Dan who ends the relationship with Blair. Dan is a writer and has fallen in love with his protagonist since day one. first Serena, the perceived "it" girl. Then Blair. Obviously he likes the unattainable. Once he gets the girl and Dan always does, down come the curtains and all the flaws and brutal truths that aren't as pretty as his artistic characters. He can't model them into who he wants them to be anymore because this is real life and not his written world. The essence of his temperament is to perceive these girls as flawless until there very flaws re-surface again. I just don't want him to hurt Blair the way he did Vanessa because as his "supposed" best friend she was effortlessly disposable to him. I perceive Dan as the most hypocritical character of all and am disgusted that he is placed on a pedestal by some.

@Strolling

you do know you are have passed the loony level now?

Can't wait for more dair.
I do want to point out though: despite the craziness of the situation both Chuck and Dan love Blair as much as the other and have proved in different ways how much they care for her. I just hope Serena hooks up with Carter by the end. And does anyone else think it ridiculous Lola is now her half-sister? How BIG is Serena's family going to be?? Seriously, it would have been more interesting if she were Nate's - NOW THAT'S DRAMA!!

dan and blair developed a genuine friendship, and dan's caring for blair helped her realize how he was the only guy who has ever genuinely been there for her and cared for HER. who she is. they have fun together and a lo9t in common and they have the most genuine relationship the show has ever developed. so im not saying that they need to live happily ever after, but the writers should properly develop that story line so that everyone is content whether they end up together or not.
I honestly dont think any one of those characters should end up with each other. these characters are all under 25. they still have the rest of their lives to live so i really dont see the point in clinging onto whatever relationships they had in high school and ending the show like that. that is seriously ass!

dan and serena, get the hell out of here. first of all, they are family now. and i dont get why people, especially serena be forgetting that. its weird. i dont care if its not by blood. its still weird to be dating your step brother. and quite frankly, this who declaration of love for dan...the idea came from blair who was trying to avoid her own feelings for dan, and serena was not thinking about dan at all before that. and even if she was, her whole reason for going after dan isnt because shes still in love with him, its because she's lonely and that's the last guy that she can remember actually being in a real relationship with. therefore she feels like ok maybe i should be with dan and serena is also jealous of blair and dans relationship too and she only has a strong desire for him because she doesnt want him to end up with blair but thats just my opinion.

I believe that these characters need evolution. In any series. Let's not forget the Blair was "supposed" to marry Nate right. They were together since freaking kindergarten until she all of a sudden fell head over heels for chuck right...
well chuck was her first and for that reason (the emotional attachment that comes from that), and the fact that chuck was forbidden because he was nate's best friend, and that he was also as sinister as blair was, she had an infatuation for him. and the more forbidden their "love" became, the more exciting and more they wanted it. both blair and chuck were attracted to the drama of the relationship. so I really understand blair's declaration of not being "in love" with chuck. it makes sooo much sense for her to come to that realization. she was chasing after power, lust, and a fantasy, not actual love with chuck.
