"there is a whole other dimension to this show that only advanced English students and academics can understand."

Please tell me you're kidding. That can be said of anything, because English majors are bullshit artists, trained to read into things that aren't necessarily there. It's an insult to Shakespeare to imply that GG's writing and direction are anywhere near the quality of the classics.

Gossip Girl is enjoyable for what it sets out to be: mindless entertainment in the form of pretty young things having a hard time deciding who to sleep with next. Most of us have noticed a decline in the show's ability to hold our attention, and it's unfair to insinuate that it's because we're stupid.

Chuck's Dad leaves him with high expectations, even after he has died.
Chuck's mother betrayed him and his father for his uncle.
Chuck's uncle is his worst enemy.
He can never rise to the role of hero because of his flaws and issues.
That sounds a lot like Hamlet to me.

He is made out to be a villain, but in actual fact he is an anti-hero because we as the audience want him to succeed but he never does. That is what Shakespeare does to his heroes

I'm not even sure why I'm even bothering to reason with someone who apparently doesn't even like this show.

You're not meant to watch Gossip Girl for good role models in women and to see people making the right choices. It's a controversial, dark and scandalous show that is meant to be entertaining with its out-of-this-world story lines. That's exactly what Chair represent, and sorry if that's too repetitive for you, but that's what Gossip Girl is. Maybe watch another show from now? OTH or Glee seem up your alley?

And the writers even said they base characters and story lines around Shakespeare. The tragic flaws in the characters are what keeps them from progressing. That's what the Shakespearean tragedy is all about. They've set it in the UES (with sex, hotties, money, high fashion and scandal) to gain mainstream and teen interest, but there is a whole other dimension to this show that only advanced English students and academics can understand.

@Christina and Leigh for no. 3: I think you mean "chicks over dicks" since they're both girls and this is about a guy.

i really like dair but sometimes it make nonsense for example in the scene of the kiss do you really think blair will tell dan " what will make you happy dan.." i do not buy that but the kiss part was the best part i dont know why i feel so in touch with dan right now and i know that all of you people that love some one and cant have it when you got the chance to kiss it it feels amazing thats what i felt in that kiss because i know u never saw that kiss coming the way it came

blair's a bitch.i wouldnt do that to my bf.and if i were married, i'd be loyal even if i dont love the guy.and she's unstable.a few days ago she was saying she loved chuck, and now look.before this season i loved her,she was smart and confident now she's pathetic and more inmature than ever.its amazing how writers can mess with a character to the point of make'em worthless.i used to watch the show because chair were awesome.but dair just dont fit.they're boring and pathetic,im sorry to dans fans but he's the worst kind of person,he makes people believe he's all good and moral but he does bad things behind people's back and acts like if he was the pope! he is not honest at all. at least everyone knows what to expect from chuck. But dan! it's not the first time he does something like this to mess up with people.remember blair's bday last season?i'm sorry this show had become this lame actually.i really liked it now i'm just disappointed.

At least in previous season's, though she had some relationship problems, her life did not revolve around it. She had other things going on (trying to get into Yale, scheming, running her clique, helping Serena etc...). Now it's like all she does is think about boys, her life revolves around the men in her life, she has nothing else. She just sits down and takes everything now. In short to me Blair has become a boring, whining, uninspired person, who doesn't bother to find a way out of things herself, but relies on the men in her life (currently Dan) to save her. I did love this character, but I think she has seriously regressed, and I don't recognise her anymore beside a few snarky comments. I don't know what character the writers are writing?

I think Blair just needs to be single, and learn how to be Blair again. She has just become a whiney damsel in distress, with no aspirations, who's biggest decision in life is to choose which man to be with??? What happened to Queen B!! Her character is sounding more and more like the old Serena from highschool!!
