@lucyyy Actually those problems were the early warning signs that Gossip Girl was about to get worse and worse.

Josh Safran and the incompetent writers need to be fired and never be allowed to write ever again.

@latinalover Looks like the writers are going to bombard Dair with roadblocks/excuses a la Chair.

@seret It started in Season 3 with the whole hotel Indecent Proposal incident and it's gone downhill ever since.

@anon They've ruined everyone.

The writers ruined Chuck and Blair!Poor writing!

This show has now decided to put it's focus on a relationship based on over-acted bantering that will never be more than "cute". They also decided to let their most complex, damaged, sexy, witty and romantic relationship go to waste. Chair used to be a gold mine for good writing and good acting. In season 4 however, they made the big mistake by taking the character of Chuck one step too far in episode 4.20. After being criticized harshly (and rightly so), everything that is happening now in season 5 - as absurd as it seems - makes sense. The irony of it is: Dair is really the opposite of "dairing". The writers are still trying to write their way around the mess they created in 4.20!

spoiler from TV line
Question: Please tell me the infamous video doesn’t sink Dan and Blair before they even get out of the harbor on Gossip Girl. That would be a lot of buildup with very little payoff. Say Dair isn’t DOA. –Leif
Ausiello: Dair is not DOA. In fact, they’ll be going strong long enough to encounter a brand new obstacle, one that is unrelated to (and potentially much more problematic than) the video. Guesses?! Hit the comments!

the show isnt just failing because of the ships its failing because the whole storylines are basically about the ships..
and for first time ever blair doesnt deserve chuck or dan, she plays them both on phone to chuck she still told him to basically wait and then kissed dan in front of serena.. its pathetic and you dair fans can be happy.. because we all know this season is going end on a cliff hanger.... and hopefully wont get renewed they have killed every character.. honestly chuck just needs a new storyline and girl.. yes blablabla he sold her for a hotel. he slept with jenny WHEN THEY wernt together... im not stupid and nor would i be with a guy like that in real life but blair has chosen to forgive him for everything.. hense she kisses him every 5 episodes so people need to shut up about that.. and realise this show is failing because of everything on it right now.

@momo83

True. Wrong is wrong, and right is right. Dan -has- made mistakes, I'm not denying that. I'm simply saying that it's not okay to vilify Dan's mistakes and yet Chuck gets a pass.

Just like our criminal system doesn't treat jaywalkers and murderers the same way, although both are still illegal acts, Dan's mistakes shouldn't be lumped in with Chuck's when the latter's are on a much more massive and damaging scale. There are levels of right and wrong. There are no absolutes.

@Ace He's not even acting, he's just lounging around and then hooking up with the next woman he meets.

@momo83 Not to mention the dumbest, ridiculous love triangle with Louis, which shouldn't have happened in the 1st place.

@Guest Yeah, I blame the writers because everything feels forced and contrived, from Blair's excuses to how she poorly deals with the problems that she created in the 1st place.

@Anonymous

LOL I -don't- think that Nate has any storylines! Hence, why he's the pretty face of Gossip Girl. Not really acting... doesn't have to be.

@Anonymous I don't know what these guys see in this season 5 blair. She's undecisive, selfish and stupid. I honestly wish Dan and Chuck would walk away from her at this point (at least until she gets her brain back). She's become the old Serena (she's not focusing on her career and juggling between men like water). I'm just mad the writer messed up my favorite character, RIP Queen B. Maybe the writers should focus on the other characters now, this story arc is a disaster.

@Anonymous Yes, I agree about the "I love you! I can't possibly love you anymore than I already do!", it was horrible dialogue! My theory is that Leighton didn't believe in the whole "pact with god-storyline", because the acting was off throughout the whole thing...it might have been better if it was something real like "I love you, but I can't possibly trust you anymore!" Even though I personally can't feel any interesting and multifaceted chemistry with Dair, I gladly renounce any Chair scenes if they are written as cheesy and one-sided as they have been lately!
