TV Fanatic Staff Selection, Take 6: Klaine for Best Teen Couple!
Welcome to the latest opportunity for a TV Fanatic staff member to defend one of our Best Teen Couple nominees. If you missed previous editions, so far...
- Carissa Pavlica has shown love for Delena.
- Matt Richenthal has explained his affection for Soby.
- Eric Hochberger has dared to love Dair.
- Dan Forcella has taken a step Forwood.
- Leigh Raines has pulled up a Chair.
Now, let's hear from Renata Selliti, who has many nice things to say about a certain Glee pairing...
Let’s face it. I’m a sucker for a well-dressed man.
So, naturally, I’m all about Glee’s same-sex power couple, Kurt and Blaine. Granted, Kurt’s wardrobe is more chic than that of most females, but still... this a fine-looking pair.
But that’s not why I think Kurt and Blaine - “Klaine” or “Blurt” if you’re into couples’ nicknames - should be TV Fanatic’s Best Teen Couple over Dair, Delena and other options. And it’s not because they’re gay, either. I’m sick of people gaining recognition by default because they’re considered a novelty.
I think Kurt and Blaine should win Best Teen Couple because they embody what it means to be teenagers: desperately trying to figure out who you are (and trying to get out of your teen years alive). Teen couple-dom also involves a strong undercurrent of not knowing what the eff you’re doing. Kurt and Blaine have that in spades, too.
Their story is not unlike that of the other couples on Glee, as we saw on “The First Time.” They’re adorable and clumsy, hormone-driven and caught in the perpetual battle between what they want to do (tear each other's clothes off) and what they should do (wait until they’re ready). Guess we figured out which side won that battle.
If that episode showed us anything, it’s that Kurt and Blaine aren’t as different as people like the Parents Television Council would have us believe (suck it, by the way, PTC). Amidst the emotional obstacle course that is high school, they managed to find their person. Then they took the next hardest step: acknowledging it.
They also have each other’s backs, are unflinchingly supportive and oozing with talent. The kind of talent that makes you wildly dynamic and magnetizes people to you, that’s what Kurt and Blaine are all about.
I mean, did you see the episode when Blaine serenaded the Gap guy? Swoon. He made me wish I were a guy, for crying out loud. Plus, if Kurt and Blaine ever got married, having the Warblers provide the musical accompaniment would make their wedding more fabulous than Will and Kate’s.
Kurt’s ability to stare down slushy-wielding bullies and Blaine’s love-driven transfer from Dalton to McKinley make them head and shoulders above other garden-variety teen couples. Also, they can rock a pair of boat shoes and a man cape better than anyone I’ve ever seen.
Bottom line: they know who they are and they don’t run from it. Their relationship is more functional and healthier than a lot of what goes on in high school. After all, gay isn’t the new black. It’s the black that’s been there all along but we’re finally acknowledging.
So come on, vote for Kurt and Blaine, Gleeks, you know you want to!

Personally Santana is a b*tch and Britt is the dumbest person alive. Klain is ok but they make them so goody goody on the show to prove a point, makes them boooorrrrriiiinnnngggggg. Delena ;)

How aren't Britney and Santana from Glee here? They are definitely my favorite teen couple on TV right now. Kurt and Blaine come in second.
That's probably because Glee is the only teen show I watch... I watch it more for the musical performances. I love how Glee returns a lot of classics to prominence in pop culture. I don't care if its a teen show. Along with Boardwalk Empire, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, House, Dexter, Homeland, Hell on Wheels and Modern Family... I watch Glee. And love it.
Here's to Britney and Santana!

I love, love, love Delena but I love Klaine even more. It's weird having those two as my favorite TV couples when they're SO different, but it is what it is. In the end Klaine is my favorite because their love for each other is so true and strong. Like Kurt says, "they can't touch us or what we have" - and I don't believe anyone can, Sebastian or whoever else tries to come between them. That's what makes them so great, in a show where everyone has switched romantic partners over and over, these two stuck together and are happily in love. They can talk through their issues and come out even stronger because of them. Kurt/Blaine forever.

They are, to me, the best couple on TV right now. Teen or not.
They built up their relationship, it was not rushed or forced, it was something that grew with the characters. They are an example to young viewers - gay or straigh, because they send a message of trust, friendship and love.
I really hope the writers won't screw them up with multiple break ups like they did with some of the other couples, they can show kids, with Kurt and Blaine, that it is possible to have a strong and beautiful relationship even in highschool.

I really dislike Kurt and Blaine as a couple and I'm a Gleek. They make for very boring television. Watching whatever forced one episode drama the writers have written for them is tiresome and just makes me dislike them as a couple and as individuals.

I think the fact that their relationship is not drama-ridden makes them the best couple. Seriously, how many times can you watch the same shit over and over? Love triangles, infidelity, lack of trust, immaturity and a shitload of fucked up issues. Kurt and Blaine may appear boring but at least they have a healthy relationship based on trust and mutual respect.

This article makes them sound boring. Delena all the way!
