Private Practice Review: Getting Lucky
It isn't always easy differentiating right from wrong. In fact, some of the Oceanside Wellness doctors were caught "Breaking the Rules" to help their patients and to keep their secrets hidden on the second episode of the season.
I've said it a dozen times, and I'm going to say it again: Regardless of the situations Charlotte and Cooper are in, they always seemingly shine. Even when they were arguing about how to proceed with Cooper's patient, I couldn't help but feel like they had each other's backs. And, quite frankly, I absolutely love that!
I was upset that Cooper crossed the line and lost Charlotte's trust by breaking into her computer, but that's so Cooper. He's relentless when it comes to helping his patients. Luckily, his patient survived thanks to the stolen cord blood and forged documentation.
That's just it, though. Last week, Amelia cut into Pete's head when she clearly had a drink or two prior to the surgery. This week, Cooper broke the law and technically stole to save his patient. In both scenarios, the patients survived. However, it's disconcerting to constantly see the doctors simply get so... lucky. What if Pete hadn't made it? What if the transplant didn't work out for Cooper's patient? What if the donor's family needed the blood?
Moreover, I'm glad that Sheldon stepped up and talked to Charlotte about her relationship with Amelia. It's too bad that Amelia can't be mature enough to see why Charlotte had to suspend her from surgery. One thing's for sure, Amelia's growing sobriety issues continued to take a turn for the worst.
Elsewhere: I was ecstatic when Pete lashed out at Violet. When Pete appeared at the practice, I thought it was way too early. However, when I saw Violet there, I knew he was trying to get away from her. I'd be doing the same thing. Sure, Pete has grown "mean" and probably shouldn't use Violet as a "punching bag," but she isn't the easiest person to live with either. Again, I know that she was merely trying to help him during his recovery, but I definitely can understand why he might need some space from her.
As for the main lovebirds, they seemed genuinely happy. However, whether you're an AddiSam shipper or not, you've got to admit that any scene with Dr. Jake Reilly and Addison is entertaining. Do you think that Addison should have told Sam about Fiji, or "almost Fiji" as she put it?
By the way, how psyched are you now that Addison is content for a chance? From forcing Sam+condoms, giving up coffee, and getting off of birth control, Addison is obviously serious about getting a baby this time around (with or without Sam). Finally!
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this installment of Private Practice. It will only be a matter of time before Amelia's sobriety issues, as well as Addison's near Fiji incident, come to light. Until then, I'll be on the edge of my bed waiting next Thursday night to see what's to come of our favorite doctors and their soon-to-be-renamed Oceanside Wellness.
What did you think of "Breaking the Rules?" Are you still rooting for AddiSam? If not, what should we call Jake and Addison? How about... Jaddie?!?

Addison: Then slowly, over time, everything changes. And you're no longer this young thing, and you don't believe in fairytales and "perfect" isn't in your v...

I guess you'd call me an 'addisam shipper' but I just LOVE the chemestry they have (Kate and Taye) the fact that Addie is a cheater aside-she and Sam are friggin HOT together!!! I loved the opening scenes of Addison and Sam together and I love Addie's scenes with her therapist-she's become more honest and real and I love that Shonda has Addison in her first Adult relationship...I do however feel that Addison wanting a baby and Sam not and Addie running the practice is going to be a little bit complicated...
I do hope that Addie gets her baby this season but not with Jake Riley-I dont like their chemestry (their kiss at the end of last season? 0 hotness) I think he has an ulterior motive-its too conicdental that he's her fertility specialist and then he just so happens to show up at the practice wanting a job? I just dont believe his motives are pure...Im watching you Dr. Jake Riley...
as far as everyone else goes:
Coop/Charlotte:
I love them as a couple and thier relationship..

Great episode.
Loved Charlotte, Sheldon and Addison more than anyone else this episode.
Amelia really caught me by surprise when she was seen drinking in the end.
I'm glad Jake was hired, as I like his character.
I'm very happy that Pete yelled at Violet, as she really needed that kick in the ass!

Was waiting for the blow-up, not that I liked it. However I see it as a step in the right direction, because it got Pete to open up about his anger/frustrations and Vi to explain her point of view to him. The Lucas talking scene at the end was just adorable. They should give that guy talking scenes in every episode, lol.
I am having major trouble understanding how it's going to work with Addie having a baby - not with Sam, who hasn't changed his mind about kids, but still living with Sam... It's too confusing to wrap my head around and I can only see it blowing up in their faces in the end. Because unless Sam changes his mind about having kids, I don't see how they can remain together once Addie gets pregnant/adopts...
I always expect Cooper to bend the rules, but this time he really overstepped... the fact that he would even attempt to guess Charlotte's password, not to mention actually get it right, approach the family and even faking their signature when they told him "no"...

Good episode for Addison. I think the entire episode built up to that moment when she said that she was genuinely happy. I'm happy that she's moving forward with her plans to have a baby and things are going well with Sam. But of course, you know that there'll be complications with Jake. And honestly, Sheldon and Violet's conversation is what tells you how complicated Addison's situation will eventually be.
For Violet and Pete, there's obviously a lot of anger there and it was good than Sheldon brought those things to the surface. Obviously Violet is just trying to help and care for him but there's a lot of emotional stress on Pete's side. Him lashing out on her was quite a scene to watch and I can only imagine that isn't the end of it.
As for Charlotte and Cooper, I hate how we haven't seen them have a truly happy scene as a married couple this season and that we probably won't be seeing that in a while. I understand Cooper's compassion but it doesn't give him the right to break

I love Addison and Sam together, so lets ditch the new dr."what's his name!"
I think Sam loves Addison enough to finally have a baby with her. Cooper and his sympathy....I think more doctors should REALLY care for their patients, like he does. Yes, Pete definately over re-acted! OMG, poor Violet..Love all the actors on PP, but Charlotte gets my highest praise, love her accent and the way everything is either black or white to her, no gray areas!!

I think Charlotte is doing great dealing with the law breakers. She let Amelia operate on Pete because there was no time for the neurosurgeon to get on time and she didn't know for sure she was drunk (no tests were done in Amelia) And what to do with Cooper's issue? She acted like every hospital chief would do trying to avoid a HUGE problem in all terms. But she told Cooper she would call the police if there was a next time, and I'm sure she'd do.
