Hawaii Five-0 Review: Together Again

by at . Comments

Ka Hakaka Maika’i: The Good Fight.

Now that all the members of Five-0 are back together, we got to see them get their fighting on on "Ka Hakaka Maika'i," as they were faced with a murder during a home invasion.

It was back to business as usual for the team, from Steve going toe-to-toe with MMA champion Chuck Liddell to watching the now five-person unit take down those robbers - and business was good!

White vs. Wo Fat

Watching our heroes go at it with these antagonists was one of the best actions scenes we've been treated to this season. It was nearly perfect, but one had get away, of course. Enter the requisite chase scene!

This happens so often, my wife has started keeping keeping track. Tonight the count was two: first the last home invader, then Boriero.

Elsewhere, we got a visit from Wo Fat, or rather Joe White got a visit. You have to admit, White held his own pretty well, given Wo Fat’s history. On the other hand, I’m sad that Mokoto is dead, he seemed like a gentle old man and really didn't deserve to die the way he did.

Did you agree with Joe that he and Steve asking questions go Mokoto killed? I don't. I’m with Steve. The responsibility lies with the Wo Fat, as he made the choice.

I have a question for the anti-Lori TV Fanatics, too: What do you think of how they started reshaping her character? Did you notice she was never “dressed up” (ditching the sexy business woman look) and was actually showing a strong tom-boy side when she talked to Steve about sparing with her ex-boyfriend when she learned MMA and Judo?

I’m pretty lonely in the “I ♥ Lori” club, but it looks like Alex Kurtzman and his team were working hard in this episode to bring a few more converts over. I’ve said it before, I have no complaints with her joining the team; she has added a strong element with her profiling background and she prevents Kono from being the only girl. That’s “win/win” in my book.

That said, it was disappointing that the show stuck with its current trend of advertising a guest star and then only featuring one scene with him/her. This week we got to meet Agent Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) from NCIS: Los Angeles. She clearly had a history with Joe, which I had hoped meant we would see her for more than three minutes. Alas, it was not to be.

In the end, with Wo Fat back on the war path and Steve having learned a bit more about what his father was talking to him about, I suspect Joe and Steve will need to be a bit more careful.

Whatever comes at Five-0, however, it will be nice to see them all face it... together.

OMG. Lori has got to go. And fast...before I completely lose interest. The original four made the show interesting, funny and the relationship between Danny & McGarrett made the whole show. Lori can't act, isn't pretty, funny, interesting - nothing. Just takes up screen shots where we could be viewing our favorite group. The producers should really take note - they are losing viewers with the addition of Lori. The ratings before this last episode were down dramatically.

LOL, funny one. I don't think Lauren German can carry a show. She pretty much proves that on Hawaii Five 0. Spinoff...you crack me up. Ya, I saw the eiposde of Human Target she was in too. I had to go back and watch it online because I didn't know that was her. She was pretty good in that. Maybe she should just do guest spots until she has more experience under her belt. (I am giving her the benefit of doubt so don't kill me people)

Ouch, I didn't realize how lonely the club was going to be liking Lori, and for coldzone, I would so watch Lori in her own spin-off :) On the flip side I should have mentioned my wife's comment about Steve with his shirt of.. I believe it was "yum, yum, yum"... I'm glad to see she's not alone in her admiration of Steve's "assets" (as it were).

Lauren German isn't even pretty or sexy. I don't like her character (or her personality based on the last interview I saw at the SOTB). I did however, like her in the part in Human Target so I have to believe it in Lenkov who is behind this. Maybe she's his girlfriend. We all know how that works. He needs to put her in another one of his shows if he wants to do her a favor. She's just not good in H50. Sorry.

Uh, sorry, but Lori is not even close to a win/win, unless you are some doe-eyed fanatic who likes bad acting but doesn't mind the view, she is ruining the enjoyment of the show. She sucks up the scenery. And it wouldn't be Kurtzman, he's not the show runner, Lenkov is. Maybe she should have her own show so you can have your win/win, and the rest of the fan world can have their show back.

i don't like lori either! i agree with everyone that it's ruining my favourite thing about hawaii five-0 is danny and steve. steve seems to spend more time with lori and joe than danny. i'm sick of all the guest stars. like, really, what's the point of doing a cross-over if the actor's barely in it? plus, isn't lori supposed to be a profiler? hotch could wipe the floor with her.

Ya I know what you're thinking, it doesn't make sense. Kensi Blye works for NCIS. Her being a villain messes up both shows now. Also Wo Fat was clearly surprised at the mention of "Shellburn" from Joe so he didn't know about that before. I don't know, what do you think?

I think Kensi is working for Wo Fat. Steve didn't tell anyone outside of 5-0 and Joe except for her about Makoto. Wo Fat killed Makoto not long after Steve told Kensi. Jenna didn't tell Wo Fat or else he would have acted sooner. Why was Kensi in Jakarta? Interesting past... I call this one!

I can't stand Lori! Why wasn't Dano in the room with him getting ready. If anyone was going to try and talk him out of it it should have been him. Instead of seeing a hilarious conversation, I am left picturing it in my mind. And boy it would have been HILARIOUS!
Her acting is awful. I will give her a + for her taste in men, but seriously. She is getting all the screen time now. Kono should have been talking with Max, not Lori.
Chin and Lori left in the dust.
GET RID OF HER!
Main characters. Core four that made the show what it was! Fantastic, witty, drama, and a cute bro-mance. I want Joe in the group instead. He has chemistry with all of them. I will give MAJOR PROPS to the writers! Starting the episode with Steve and his shirt off! Then walking in and seeing his perfected abs and sweat and to "Thunderstruck" in the background. FAVORITE SONG! Seriously I could have paused those shots for an entire hour and been fine with nothing else:)
Keep the shirts off writers!

Oh Jim,I'm sorry, but apparently 'That’s not “win/win in MY book.'
coz in my opinion the writers just have been forcing the viewers to accept the Lori character as a female McG and potential love interest for McG from the first minute she showed up. Especially in this episode,Steve behaved like a jerk. As we all know everytime Steve started risking his life,Danny got to lose his temper, coz as a partner,as a bro he cared about Steve. But in this episode, the way he treated Danny made me feel that Danny was a stupid 3rd grade kid.He preferred flirting with Lori, whose acting is dull and ridiculous to me,to noticing Danny's concern about him. That's definitely rude and unbearable in reality. Even though the writers want to reshape the Lori character,do they have to sacrifice the positive side of Danny's personality and the bromance between he and Steve. That is the only thing I did not and will never understand. BTW I like the scence Danny with the murdered guy's kid toooooooo. And please give enough screen time back to Kono and Chin!

Lori: excuse me?

Steve: Mouth guard.
Danny: You need a helmet not a mouth guard.
