If Damon dies I wont watch the show anymore, his character and his struggles is what makes the show for me hes the only character to show that hes not really human, hes a vampire thats what he is. where as stefan acts way too normal you almost forget hes suposed to be a vampire.
If Damon doesnt die one of the ways he may be saved is if Klaus successfully does the sacrifice and really does turn into a hybrid well maybe klaus will find a way to make Damon his first creation of this new species...makes sense all kind of tiies together, but we will see...

@cc: I have heard a lot of people say lots of things about Damon...but this comes as a shock to me! You actually called him 'whimpy'? Man, he is anything but a whimp. I'm sorry but please exercise your democratic right to freedom of speech with a little bit of discretion.
Damon can't die it's like kill Elena. I rather she die than Ian. God does that mean if he dies this season that he won't be at the comic con in San Diego for TVD. My world will fall apart. Ian Somerhalder is the reason I watch TVD ( that and for him to take off his shirt!).
If damon dies then there is no reason for me to watch the show.

Damon will be saved but whatever is used will make him a human being again. that is in the books somewhere.
And Elena realises that by Damon becoming human, they have lost a strong ally.Just go back and watch all the times Stefan hesitated and Damon took charge with his instincts.

I love the vampire diaries. While Damon of season 1 was great. Season 2 was boring and whimpy. I would not want him to leave the show. But, I love all the character and would still watch it regardless if he's on the VD's. Everyone can be replaced. Besides, Ian Somerhalder didn't really have much of a career before the show. Sure in did a few movies (never seen them or heard of him until this show though). But, he know's he could never be a popular as he is now. Besides, the money and all the freebee's couldn't top what he gets here and he know's it. So even if the cliffhanger ends with him dying, he'll be back.

killing Damon is killing TVD. He's the USP of the show apart from the gripping story! They can't do this. . .even if they do, they'd have to get him back.
I have a feeling that they're almost following the way GG ended for season 3 leaving us with an apparently dead Chuck who was back from the dead in the next season.
Hope its somewhat like that, even if the two are completely unrelated things.
Please, Please Don't kill Damon!!! I love him to much and I would miss my extremely handsome vampire with those big blue eyes!!! And besides if Damon's not there then there's no reason for me to keep watching the show!!! And Damon is my favorite character!!!

I dont think Damon is donna die! The show got as big as it got because of him! I think people wouldnt want to watch it if he dies.

So be real, Julie Plec is just trying to scare us (and judging from the reactions she's done a good job!). They won't kill Damon, but they'll save him in the last 10 seconds, or worse, leave it as a cliffhanger. He can't die, but I do want to see Stefan trying to help him because as I see it, we need more brother moments, I find that such a dynamic relationship.

Nobody needs to worry about Damon being killed off the show. Seriously, everyone is up for grabs except Setfan, Elena and Damon until maybe like the last episode of the entire show. Julie Plec might want us to think Ian Somerhalder is expendable, but she knows (like we all do) that killing off the most popular character off the show equals the end of it.
Seriously, how many people would continue to watch without him? Even if you're a Stelena fan the show is built on the dynamic between those tree characters.

I really think it would be a bad idea if they kill off Damon. He's a HUGE part of the show. I read a poll that said 75% of the viewers like Damon over Stefan. Damon is my favorite charachter on The Vampire Diaries so if they did kill him off I know I wouldn't like it as much if at all. Damon and Elena is the main reason I watch the show so I really hope they don't kill him!!! But they probably won't. :)

I did not think season 2 could could be as good as season 1, season 2 was better!!! Love Vampire Diaries!!!! Love Damon and Elena, hope they will see them as a supercouple!! They rock!!

Omg..I love vampire diaries much better than twilight,however if they take damon out of it,I will be very disappointed. He's one of the main characters,just like elana. With out damon the story line might as well be a tv version of edward and Bella who didn't want to be a vampire.
As if they'd do anything as stupid as taking Damon off the show! If they care about their ratings, they obviously won't go that far so I know there's going to be some magical solution to all this whether they like it or not!

This is my favorite show on TV solely because of Damon. If he is killed off, I will definitely stop watching. Also, if they make us think he's going to die and leave us with a cliffhanger about it all summer, i will just be annoyed with the show all summer. What a messed up way to end the season, after last year's perfect ending...
Don't make the mistake Plec. You guys have done some of the best TV to date, I can't imagine you making such a poor decision now. This show is too good to have it taken off the air now...
