The Mentalist Review: Red John May Be...
Everyone who thinks Virgil Minelli is Red John raise your hand...
He’s been my pick since season one. Why else would bring this character back on "Jolly Red Elf," not that I can ever complain about watching Gregory Itzin for any reason.
But if I suspect Virgil, Jane must do the same. Did he bring his suspicions to Minelli for this reason? Is Jane playing his own mind games? So many possible twists and turns in this serial killer story. It’s hard to be sure who believes what anymore.
I can’t say the Santa story intrigued me, but I liked the banter between Jane and Lisbon over Christmas and Saint Nick:
Jane: So you took the whole Santa revelation badly.
Lisbon: Crushed my heart like a cigarette. | permalink
Can’t you just picture a heartbroken little Lisbon? Even the look on her face as she said it was adorable.
LaRoche’s investigation into Todd Johnson’s death was what captured my attention. Why wasn’t that green lighter listed in the evidence report? Why was LaRoche carrying it around in an evidence bag in his pocket? Did it make it to the FBI crime lab?
La Roche was such an enigma. You could never tell what he was really thinking because you could barely see the man’s eyes. They were just narrow slits. How do you trust someone when you can’t look him in the eyes? And is Jane actually his main suspect? As Lisbon said, Johnson was on fire when the guard opened the cell door. Jane was upstairs with her and probably plenty of other witnesses before that.
Why target Jane?
All of that leaves me wondering if LaRoche has a connection to Red John. Or maybe The Mentalist just has me paranoid. So... LaRoche, Virgil Minelli, or do you have your own guess? Lay your bets. Speculate. We have a lengthy hiatus ahead of us for fans to take their best guesses. Have at it!

Jane: This is Red John. Lisbon: How can you tell? Jane: Because when it's him I can feel it.

here's my theory on RED JOHN
Ellis Mars is an astrologer - Mars is also the planet known as the "Red Planet"
Ellis Mars shook hands with Patrick and is currently a suspect who's name appeared on jane's list
In Red John's Friends, "He is Mar" is written on the bathroom wall by Jared Renfrew, Jared was killed in a motel in Tijuana, Mexico, with a mexican girl.
Mar could be short for Mars.
"He is mars" transalted in spanish is "El es Mars."
El es mars sounds like Ellis Mars
you can also take it this was :
Not He is Mar but l l e is Mars, a mistaken writing fpr "Ellis Mars"
Ellis Mars got caught out easily as being a fake psychic though.
He seems too soft and weak to be Red John
but notice he had 2 different Business cards :
Ellis has a red rose with red beams and an eye ("immortal Eye" of Tyger) on his first job-card, and Red John's favorite poet and painter, William Blake, writes poems into said of "planet Mars" (red planet) and "blood beams" ("America: a

Also, every plan totally full proof that Jane had he did share it with Lisbon and each and every one of them failed. Maybe Lisbon is trying to trick Jane into seeing through her by making him fall in love with her.

Lisbon is Red John. If you guys think this guy is RJ, then why can't it be that he is just another 'manipulated' person? The director or someone told that the clue lies in the first episode. Now there are two first episode in this case..one is the legit first episode of first series, and the other one is the one in Season 5 where it shows the story of 7 years ago..Loraline tells Jane that they should've been best friends from since they shook hands (Jane and RJ). If you see the 7 years ago episode in Season 5, you can see that Jane shook hands with Lisbon for the first time..that's one clue.
In the very first episode, when Jane was young, his father convinced him to fraud a family to give fake hope to a little girl who was dying by selling her a small rock that would 'heal' her. Jane felt sorry but he eventually did it. Maybe this little girl somehow survives and she is Lisbon, or perhaps her sister. Lisbon never said anything about her family.
Also, every plan totally full proof

I have also suspected that Minelli is RJ for a damn long time. Lisbon is not RJ. Jane was chatting whit RJ on the CBI computer network in a episode, Jane, Bigsby, Chow, Grace and Lisbon was all there. Minelli was not there.
Minelli gets pissed of and stressed and leaves the country "to go on vacation" and gets the RJ kill that takes place in south Amerika, dont remember what season/episode that was. After that episode I started to suspect Minelli to be RJ. Think its in Season 1 or 2.

I agree that Lisbon is Red John. If you watch almost any episode, the interaction between her and Jane just screams that its her. And all of the clues, like who was near interrogation room when guy burned, why Red John hasnt just killed Jane, it all supports it. Even last weeks episode where Lisbon wants to know all about fbi investigation from Jane because she needs to know if fbi thinks shes alive.

You guys are so stupid its Bradley Whitford. And LaRoche has a secret of getting his lighter stolen which later burned the man. Plus the women from previous was a hooker for him. Season 4 spoilers.

I think Red John is Pruitt Taylor Vince. (LaRoche) I re-watched the episode where he quotes William Blake's "Tyger tyger burning bright". Then I found another movie of him talking. The voices are identical.

I think Lisbon is Red John. For example, in episode 8 of season 3, Lisbon is the last person in the interview room with the serial killer who has been lit on fire before Patrick gets into the room to talk to him. This serial killer, on his death bed, then makes the "tiger tiger" Red John comment to Jane in the hospital before he dies. Also in this episode, Lisbon and Jane are discussing vengeance and Jane says to Lisbon that when the moment comes he will be seeking vengeance from Red John. Lisbon says that that won't happen because she will be there with Jane to make sure it doesn't etc. Will she be there because she is in fact Red John? I know that Red John is always referred to as a man and that the blind woman had a relationship with him and this does cast doubt on my theory. However, Lisbon is smart, strong, fast and knows how to use a gun. We always see her chasing people down and kicking doors in etc. I suggest that everyone watches episode 8 of season 3 and let me know what they
