Lie to Me Review: "Double Blind"

at .

What do you get when you mix a sultry siren like Caprica Six with the keen eyes and wit of Cal Lightman?  The answer is a stunning game of cat and mouse, as witnessed this week in "Double Blind."

Raise your hand if you love Tricia Helfer. As a fan of Battlestar Galactica, I am sure I'm not alone when I say that I adore her. Before you start flaming me, my feelings are not just based on her looks in a slinky red dress (not entirely, at least). But this is one versatile actress.

In her time on BSG, Helfer played nearly a dozen different personalities made them all unique.

Gorgeous Lie to Me Star

Her character, Naomi, was no different in this episode. She had Lightman eating out of her hand (almost literally), and this week’s quotes are ripe with the fruits of her banter with him.

Any woman who can create a blind spot in Lightman’s perception is truly a master and I hope we get to see Naomi again down the road.

Now that we are four episodes in, we can see changes that were made in the show for this season. The most notable was Agent Reynolds leaving. I have a few other that are a bit more subtle, but well worth mentioning:

Lightman Vision: I really like how they will flash back to what Lightman saw when diagnosing a person/situation. It is generally in slow motion and kind of “soft," but the effect does a great job giving us a look into what Lightman sees.

Closer to Home: While they did mention the show would be a bit more rogue this season, I really like how they have brought the cases down to a more personal level. I feel like Lightman is much easier to understand and get along with when he is motivated more by personal feeling than loyalty to the FBI.

Lighthearted Lightman: Cal has become a chatter box of jokes and humor. He appears to smile more and actually enjoy things a bit more.  He still gets into people’s faces and makes them uncomfortable, but that is not all he is about.

What did you think of this week’s episode? Do you know how to tell Monarch Butterfly from a Viceroy Butterfly?

Lie to Me Season 3 Episode 4 Quotes

Lightman: You hang in there.
Robber: For what?
Lightman: Oh, don't be a wanker, there must be someone something.

You hired us to vet your staff and your security. Right now you are hoping she screwed up so you can blame this on someone else. Amusing? A laugh a minute. But YOU LEAVE HER ALONE!
