Glee Cast Members: Too Sexy for GQ?

by at . Comments

The latest issue of GQ features provocative photos of Glee cast members Cory Monteith, Lea Michele and Dianna Agron, prompting us to ask a simple question:

Glee airs at the family-friendly hour of 8 p.m. It clearly courts a young demographic of viewers.

Does the show need more buzz? No. Does it need to prove it's sexy and/or edgy? Not really, considering many storylines feature sexual references and situations already. Heck, Artie lost his virginity last week and Santana referred to "scissoring" between her and Brittany!

So, once again, we can't help but ask: why go through with this photo shoot? What's the point?

Our friends at The Hollywood Gossip have posted more racy shots of Lea and Dianna HERE. Check them out and then sound off in our Glee forum: do you have a problem with this photo shoot?

** UPDATE: The Parents Television Council has gone overboard chimed in with: “It is disturbing that GQ, which is explicitly written for adult men, is sexualizing the actresses who play high school-aged characters on ‘Glee’ in this way. It borders on pedophilia."

They are so dumb. Lea was in Spring Awakening which was about teens and sex and there was sex scene with nudity.
I agree PTC doesn't do anything but bring even more attention to it. This isn't even targeted for kids as they pointed out so what is the problem?
Someone brought up GG, they do complain about it which is stupid too considering the books are more racy. I am unsure why the PTC can complain about any show whose demographic is 18 and over in viewers.

Also, the PTC is VERY pathetic. Always overracting...and have no real power. So all they do is waste their time complaining.

Really? We aren't in the Puritan eras.....

After the Brittany/Savannah-scene, this does not surprise me...

Anna maria

so hwat? the show is already racy so young kids shouldn't watch it anyway, or read gq..they are well over 18 and can do what they want. PTC is pathetic. Shows that portray teenagers show them in lingerie all the time, even life unexpected talks about lux having sex, glee even referred to scissoring and had a pregnant character, that means that the characters obviously have sex..this complaint is completely off base. Plus, the character's aren't real! They've been watching a little too much tv..

guys, it's GQ. it's fine. chill out crazy feminists. and the actors are all mid 20s and over. just because they play kids doesn't mean they have to act like them. lea has 7 tattoos...should she hide them in public because it's not clean cut? get over it

From a feminist's point of view you could argue it's pretty sexist that Cory is fully dressed (looks reather sloppily dresed actually for a magazine cover) while the ladies are flaunting themselves a tad (don't care very much for ANY of their outfits but that's a taste thing), but other than that they are in their 20s so if people can't separate from their roles they need to grow up. Other than Chris (who I think has a bit of a baby face) I think the rest of the 'kids' look their real age.
The fact is the media loves selling this sort of image and people are obviously buying into it so I've not really got a problem with it. Small kids don't really watch the show seeing the same jokes the adults do, having watched it with some pretty young kids and seeing their reactions they don't get the naughty stuff anyway (mostly just love the songs and colourful characters), the show isn't aimed at them so it's not like Miley Cyrus writhing around in the nuddy when she's been on telly on shows TOTALLY aimed at little kids.

The actors are over the age of consent, and pedophilia is below highschool aged, ebiphiles target teenagers.

and the PTC needs to get off of WEEKLY BASHING OF GLEE and maybe move on the GG, 90210, any show on MTV. I mean there is a hell lot worse shit kids are wathcing other than Glee.

Im sorry for all the familys that watch but im a 19 year old girl who thinks its HOT. and BTW ALL THESE "YOUNG" GIRLS WHO ARE IN LOVE WITH FINN... NEWS FLASH HES 30 "F"ING YEARS OLD... AND LEA AND DIANA ARE 20 I THINK.

Glee Quotes

You know, a great big fat person once stood on this stage and told a group of a dozen or so nerds in hideous disco outfits that glee, by its very definition, is about opening yourself up to joy. Now it's no secret that for a long time I thought that was a load of hooey. As far as I could see the glee club was nothing but a place where a bunch of cowardly losers go to sing their troubles away and delude themselves into thinking that they live in a world that cares one iota about their hopes and dreams, totally divorced from the harsh reality that in the real world there's not much more to hope for than disappointment, heartbreak, and failure. And you know what. I was exactly right. Thats exactly what glee club is. But I was wrong about the cowardly part. What I finally realized, now that I'm well into my late thirties, it takes a lot of bravery to look around you and see the world not as it is but as it should be. A world where the quarterback becomes best friends with the gay kid, and the girl with the big nose ends up on Broadway. Finding the courage to open up your heart and sing about it. That's what glee club is. And for the longest time I thought that was silly, and now I think it's just about the bravest thing that anyone could do.

[to Finn] You know, I don't really know what's going to happen between us, but I know that you used to be the guy that would make me feel like the most special girl in the whole world, and it doesn't feel that way anymore. Now it just feels sad and confusing. And the worst part is that it doesn't even feel that bad anymore.
