I do agree too.
I like Britney Spears (no die hard fan though) because most of her songs are fun and catchy and I just feel like moving whenever I hear them but I didn't need to see those renditions that had no real "glee touch" compared to the original and not to mention the ridiculous cameos.
Of course Heather Morris is an AMAZING dancer but there are so many other ways to showcase her talent.
Don't tell me "if you don't like it, don't watch it" because I really truly like Glee and I have faith in what they can come up with but I cannot praise for the sake of it when with all the potential (possible storyline, talented actor, unique concept) they do so little. As a fan of the show I would wisely advise the writers and creators to STOP listening to us... The 13 first episodes were the best and they shot them before receiving fans'feedback

@ML House: I see your point that the songs were mostly Britney videos, but that was kind of the point. They were supposed to be each kids fantasy under anesthesia. It wasnt supposed to be a plot developer like some other songs in past episodes or "Only Exception" at the end of this one.
Also, on the Artie/football team thing: Clearly it's not logical for a kid in a wheelchair to be able to play football. But why does that mean he cant be on the team. Just b/c they have some idea of him being a "battering ram" or something, doesnt mean he will actually have any play time. Artie has the same mentality that Becky does for being a Cheerio: Just b/c they are handicapped doesnt mean they have to be excluded. They want to be part of a team.
All in all, I really liked this episode. I loved the dancing and dialogue from Brittany. It was awesome! I want them to do a boy band episode, and pick 1 song from each of the famous boy bands from the past. Maybe Justin Timberlake can do his cameo

I love Britney and I love Glee. Sure, this wasn't the absolute best episode ever and I do agree that they should have at least found a plot, but it was a very fun episode to watch. Brittany had NEVER been funnier, Spears looked absolutely stunning, and come on, James Stamos was awesome! I feel they put one too many Spears songs in and it's why they didn't have enough time for "acting" and a "plot" but honestly, again, this was a very fun episode to watch!

Toxic was great but that reporter guy in the brown shirt needed to shut it. he kind of ruined the number for me with his gross remarks. and what was up with his scene in the library? was he listening to a recording of rachel or was she actually there...?
and i agree, the dentist thing was a little far fetched, but i am glad i got to see brittany dance finally because she was awesome.

Ah, I totally forgot to mention the comparison to the second episode of season 1, you know, "Push it"? Seeing Mr. Schue doing Toxic (which was suuper hot, I'm totally in love with him now. And that number, Puck and Mike where smokin'!) with the club really made you realize what a slut he's become, lol! But my point was seeing how the season progresses along the same line as season one. Is episode 5 going to be invitationals?
Also, kudos to Emma and her grape line: "We just mixed them in a bowl together and just ate them. It was madness, sheer madness!" Jayma Mays is awesome.

I agree that some of the performances felt forced. If we had seen more of Artie missing Tina in this episode prior to his number, that would have definitely fit the bill. I must admit I'm not much of a Britney fan, anyway (well, I don't actually really know most of these songs well, although I think I've a few of them once), as I'm too old. That does, however, make me the perfect age to fully appreciate the "Kids, Incorporated" and "Blossom" references. I can totally see Emma bouncing around her living room to Kids Incorporated. :)

Yes, I wish the writers/songwriters had been a more inventive in their use of Britney songs rather than just recreating her old videos. Remember the cool mash ups of songs from last season with interesting vocals? I would have liked to have seen more of that. I too liked "Toxic" (with the exception of the role of Jacob and that adjacent female student) and "Stronger." I thought showcasing Heather Morris' dancing ability was a highlight. I also agree with another commenter that Rachel's "Oops I did it again" was awful mainly since it was such a blatant copy of the original video down to the scenes in the gymnasium.

I'm a hard core Britney fan and I freaking loved this episode! I will admit that Jacob was super freaky in this episode but his encounter with Sue was hilarious and Heather Morris freakin owned this episode! She's an amazing dancer and not too bad of a singer. Personally I thought it was cool that they recreated the Britney videos because they were so Iconic and everyone remembers them because of the controversy it created. I didn't think it was a filler episode because we finally got to meet Carol and I'm completely a Finchel fan now, because I really like St. Berry, and Puckleberry for that matter but that last song was soo touching!!! I loved it all!!! Don't get me started on the Toxic rendition, fabulous!

@Tom: I could see that point, based on what I've written, but I absolutely love Britney songs. There's not a single one I don't find catchy.
I just don't wanna watch an episode that re-enacts videos I could watch myself on YouTube, especially when the songs don't tie into the plot.

@Clark1250: Thank you for reminding me that Artie is on the football team! Arrg, come on, Glee! I'm all for suspension of disbelief, but that's utterly ridiculous. There are no rules against a wheelchair-bound player, Finn? What rule book are you reading?!?

@M.L. House I think Daniel is referring to your comments about Britney Spears in earlier posts, which do indicate some dislike towards Britney. You basically called a woman who just last year had a #1 hit and the highest grossing female tour of 2009 a has-been. That definatly makes you seem at least somewhat biased.

Agreed. I'ma hardcore Gleek but this was awful. The redeeming factor was the Finn/Rachel storyline.
the episode WAS a little weird because i don't recall the show ever reenacting music videos like that. i mean there was the sue sylvester 'vogue' thing but i thought that was a really great way to advertise the madonna episode. anyway, aside from the weirdness, i really loved how they incorporated britney in such positive life. brit brit hadn't had that much love from the media lately and i thought the positive undertones of how empowering she can be was really delightful. and that outweighed the 'weird'. and ps. lea michele almost ruined baby one more time. srsly, wtf was that?

I think they did a great job and how in the world could this crappy crytic say there was no story development when Fin and Artie finnaly got on the team and We got introduced to Carl finnaly? Well answer that cynic and also Will was making some progress with Emma obviously and Fin proved his love for Rachel if you even payed attention to the story plots in it you would notice it had alot more story then you saw. I think it was Great. I would give it 9.5

@daniel: Can you explain what you mean by "bias?" Who am I biased against... the episode?
I'm a critic and I gave my opinion. Everyone else is welcome to theirs and I welcome debate/disagreement. But I think you're misusing the word "bias" here, as that would imply I'm actively, unfairly against something or someone.

Agreed-I am CRAZY about GLEE, but have to admit I only liked this episode; didn't love it. The storyline and character development is what makes GLEE special and we didn't get a whole lot of either this week although I thought Toxic and Only Exception were awesome. GLEE is still at the top of my list and I can't wait for next week. (Love you Kurt!!)

1.5 stars, really? I think it deserves at least 2 stars just for finally giving Brittany a last name :D
I loved their version of Toxic, but I really could have done without creepy Jacob. Was I the only one who was EXTREMELY uncomfortable while watching him this episode? Dude really needs help.
Brittany was hilarious, demanding every solo now, haha. And she's a fantastic dancer, I enjoyed the numbers but yes, it maybe was too much. Though I must admit the numbers were very well done!
I'm a die hard St. Berry fan but DAMN did Finchel grow on me during the last song, how Finn walked away from Santana and Britt. Almost made me buy their relationship.
Overall, plot-wise nothing much happened, true. Though we finally met Carl, had a Terri encounter, got more confused as to the relationship between Quinn and Finn and realized that Rachel is even more insecure than we thought. I do hope Glee steps it up a bit in the future, I understand that since they had the green light from Britney t
