Parenthood Review: Series Premiere

at .

On this week’s pilot episode of Parenthood, we are introduced to the members of the Braverman family.  We learn that this family has its share of problems, but also shares a lot of love for one another.

The parents of four adult Braverman children, Camille and Zeek, are the heart of this amazing family.  If you ever desired to be a part of a large united family, then this would be it!  They have four children, Sarah, Crosby, Adam, and Julia.

This show is centered on their lives, the good and the bad. The everyday challenges.

Julia and Sarah

Let’s begin with Sarah, the single mother of two that is forced to move back into her parents’ house for help.  What a mess this young mom is in!  Can you imagine having two teenagers, and having to move back in with the folks?  We really hope she manages to get back on her feet and find a new, decent man.

We do approve of Jim, the man she gets into bed with on the episode.  He might not be the best looking guy, but looks aren’t everything.  How sweet was he to still have her ring from high school?  We have the feeling that Sarah is attracted more to of a bad boy, like her ex and father of her children.

The next Braverman that caught our eye was Crosby.  Poor guy, having commitment and issues of becoming a father, finding out that he already is!  Can’t wait to see how he handles the news and also if he creates a bond with Jabbar.

Adam and his wife Kristina seem to have it all along with two beautiful kids, Max and Haddie.  Adam just wants his son to have a memorable childhood, one like his own.  They heartbreakingly find out that Max has a mild form of Autism, Asperger syndrome.  How will these two come together to help their son live a normal life?

And last, there is the beautiful Julia Braverman, the working mother who is an attorney and has apparently put her career in front of her family.  Her daughter is much closer to her father, which is clearly hurting Julia.  Can this working mom find time for her only child?

We love this new family drama and cannot wait to see how the Braverman’s come together to deal with all the problems at hand.

Until next week, we leave you with a few of our favorite Parenthood quotes from this week:

Crosby: Sounds like this sperm is going to be an excellent father. So, maybe he can couch soccer for you or whatever.
Katie: You're an idiot. | permalink

Kristina: Men feel the need to express their love through hitting balls, slapping buts, and discussing meaningless statistics. | permalink

Crosby: Let's just play ping pong, so I can lose myself in sport. | permalink

Zeek: If someone gets in your grill you got to shove them back, you got to get tough Max. Kick some ass baby. | permalink

Mom, I'm on my feet I'm not destitute. I've just got a little financial trouble and two degenerate kids, but I'll be fine.

Max: Isn't the game today?
Adam: Well buddy I thought you were done with baseball.
Max: It's my team.
Adam: Games in 10 minutes everybody.
