Let's Make a Deal: Returning to the Air
Sorry, Guiding Light fans.
But the beloved daytime drama won't be returning to CBS this fall.
Despite a write-in campaign by viewers, the soap opera will bid farewell in September. It will be replaced a month later by a new version of the game show Let’s Make a Deal.
Debuting on October 5, the series will be hosted by Wayne Brady, as it features contestants dressing up in unusual costumes and making deals with the host. The original version ran from 1963-1977 and was hosted Monty Hall.

CBS cancelled "Guiding Light" for the same reason that many other soap operas before it were taken off the air: the show's producers and cast felt that it was time to wrap it up, because "Guiding Light" had been on the air for close to 80 years, counting its runs on both radio and television. As far as "Let's Make A Deal" was concerned, many people who followed the show when Monty Hall hosted it from the mid '60s through the early '90s wanted to see it come back on the air after a nearly two-decade absence.
