One Life to Live Rumor: Goodbye, Erika Slezak?
Erika Slezak, who recently ripped the soap opera industry, might be on her way out of One Live to Live?
Such is the rumor making its way around various media outlets.
Slezak won't confirm or deny her status on the show. But she also won't hide her feelings about the direction of her character, writing on her official website:
"[T]hey are focusing on other stories right now. And that's all I can really say. I agree that there is not enough of Viki and Charlie right now but hopefully there will be in the future."
The actress urges fans to contact Brian Frons, president, Daytime, Disney-ABC Television Group, if they're interested in seeing more of her on One Live to Live.
"It's Brian Frons who approves and disapproves of stories. Any story that is done has to be green lighted by him," Slezak wrote. "It's [head writer] Ron [Carlivati]'s responsibility to come up with the stories but Brian has to green light them."

Natalie: Everything's going to be fine, guys. Just - just do what he says. Flash: How can you be so calm? Natalie: I don't know if I am calm, okay? I just - ...

I watch OLTL and will not be disappointed if Erika leaves. Although, she is enjoyable her entertaining for me is limited. Although I am in her age range, over 60 age and a female, there is little her stories mean to me except the grandma mode in which she is good for the advice she gives to the younger folks. I do not intend to insult but, this "grandma" role is a prime example of "limited". We of the older generation have to face it, particularly in Soaps, how long can you stay on the canvas being paid triple the average salary but give very limited entertainment value in contrast for an audience composed of many generations whose life outlook and culture you no longer mirror.
There is a time when you have to go or accept a big salary reduction commensurate to your present value. Some older actors have accepted this reality and the pay cut for their love of acting; if Erika is not willing to yield then the money and status are more important to her and then if she is fired;

I was 14 years old when One Life To Live debuted. I am now 55 years old. The character of Victoria Lord was instantly my favorite character because Gillian Spencer then Erika Slezak brought great life, character, and likeability to the character. Erika Slezak is One Life to Live, as she is the one mainstay.
I don't watch soap operas as a rule, but One Life To Live and All My Children have always been part of my daily viewing.
I will say if Erika leaves One Life, I will never watch the show again, as of late the writing is a bit pitiful. So the producers should thank their lucky stars that they have the acting talent to carry the show. Maybe it is time to aim toward different demographics, and be loyal to the actors who do the real work, and the viewers who can cut the cord pretty quickly. We love Erika Slezak, and One Life. And the two are synonomous!! Thanks for letting me vent.

I have been waiting for months for the romance between Vicki and Charlie to kick off. We were teased initially with the chemistry between them and then it was suddenly cast aside. We hardly ever even see them together. It's not that they are boring together, it's that they never get any air time. I thought they were charming together and can't wait to see their romance blossom with a front burner storyline. The show needs to hold onto Vicki as she is the backbone of the show. I'm tired of seeing her as just an advice giver. She still shines when she's in love. Give her and Charlie the air time and they will deliver.

Vicky is the mainstay of OLTL. I'm sure that the writers can come up with a good story line for her. I have to say that while Charlie's character is a nice guy he is boring. We need someone like Ben who was really a great match for her. That was such a romantic love story. Of course, Vicky & Dorian are always
interesting to say the least and I'm sure that there is more for
Vicky to do than to dispense advice to everyone. If Vicky leaves Llanview I as well as many other long time viewers will leave Llanview as well.
