It’s the first day of school on Gossip Girl.

Former lovebirds Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) and Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) are broken up. Things are a tad awkward.

And they're about to get even more so when Dan has the audacity to - OMG - start dating another girl. A nerdy one named Amanda.

You know that the high school's social queen, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), will have something to say, and do, about this.

Who will be Gossip Girl's social "queen bee" after this episode? And more importantly, what high school allows "uniforms" like this?!

What follows is a chain of events so snarky and funny, albeit convoluted and unrealistic, that it makes for some of the best TV out there.
