Tonight: "Drowning On Dry Land"

Tonight, Grey's Anatomy returns for part two of the three-part drama that began with last week's thrilling "Walk On Water."

Tonight: "Drowning On Dry Land"
In tonight's "Drowning On Dry Land," the doctors frantically search for the missing Meredith - while pondering their own places in the universe.

Meanwhile, a desperate, frantic Izzie decides to take extreme measures to manage the situation she finds herself in. Cristina and Burke have a blow-up fight about their engagement announcement.

Oh, and there's also the rumor going around that one of the doctors will die, or find themselves on the brink of the great beyond in a harrowing near-death experience (both possibilities we address in our death watch).

Yikes! Guest starring Elizabeth Reaser (who we believe is the pregnant Jane Doe), this second of three episodes sounds like another edge-of-your-seat event. Here's ABC's preview of "Drowning On Dry Land" ...

Wow. We're nervous just watching that clip! As always, we'll have our official episode guide posted after the show, and start putting together a list of quotes, image gallery, and music guide. Check back with us often, and thanks as always for watching Grey's Anatomy right along side the Insider!

I have a slight dislike with everyone saying how impossible it is for meredith to die. She IS dead currently, people! It's not impossible. It's already happened, that's the thing. As for this episode, I found it predictable... but, I don't know. Not predictable enough to the point where it wasn't exciting anymore, because It was. It was exciting, it still is. I JUST got what BANG is. Burke and Yang. DUH! >>; Excuse my being slow. But, anyway. Much to say about this episode for some reason. What happened to Denny? No, I know he's dead. I've been following ever since last year, oddly enough. I never did start at the exact season beginning. But what's going to happen? I don't really know how to even phrase it properly, what I'm trying to ask. Denny's dead, but when Meredith comes back, what does she say to Izzie? And congratulations to Izzie for officially coming off probation. =) That was a happy moment, for everyone who's been following I think. Derek has been proven vulnerable before - but we've never seen him so broken. Even with Addison and that heated discussion, he didn't seem this broken. But now, all of a sudden, it's like he's dead's with Meredith. One can only speculate what's going on in Derek's head right now, and I can't help but feel horribly sad along with the poor guy. He's just so adorable. When Mark came along and offered Derek a hand, that made me smile. Because just the same how Christina is Meredith's person, and how Meredith is Christina's person - Derek is Mark's person, and, well... I like writing about Grey's because it gets me writing. This is the effect that Shonda has on me.

So the rumours say that two people will die but only one death will be permanent? How about this, then...? I think that Ellis goes into surgery, as planned, and dies. And she ends up in the little dreamworld that Meredith found herself in - and Meredith decides she does not want to spend the afterlife with her mother and come hell or high water, she's going to live. And she wakes up and knows her mother is dead before people can tell her. Everyone will be like, woah... That would be cool. Because, seriously, they can't kill her off. It's impossible, anyway, as Ellen has signed a contract for another three seasons, and I doubt she'd sign a contract for narration/voiceover only. She's becoming a household name, now, and her career is finally taking off. She's not going to give that up to be a voiceover...

Omg!! mer cant die!! the whole episode was so gut wrenching!! im still speechless.... Der made me cry this episode was all so emotional!!

I do not want mer to officially die....i mean a part of me would die with her. But im just wondering why they did this whole thing in the first they like scaring us out of our they like making us cry.. Seriously? Seriously! Everybody i talk to thinks the will revive her... and that makes me smile....but i'm still... idk...i think there is a reason for doing this to her..maybe i'm overreacting... maybe the reason will be that mer nd derek will realize they're undying mite be a start of a new relationship with mark and derek...even addison now understands dereks love for mer... mayb they had mer "die" so that she can tell izzie she saw denny... all i know is there has to be a there anybody else who can't feel optimistic about next week? we have to wait about 6 1/2 days to find out....

o an i agree with Usagi with the lose rating thing. And Ellis Grey and Meredith death sequence is a high possiblity...interesting how the would come about and Denny returning im very interested how that comes into play..If you think i dont want Meredith your wrong i do its complicated..ive seen many things go along with" DONT TAKE HER OFF!!...or THEY CANTKILL HER ITS NOT RIGHT" we need to set a new perspective.

i was reading a spoiler website and it said there is lik27 episodes fro this lets go back to could we possibly golike 11 more episodes without Meredith...what would they be about cause for all i kno 11 episodes revoliving arounf dead meredith doesnt sound that great to me. She'll live..and if she doesnt the show will be different, many fans wont watch...i wouldnt but hey thats just me. McDreamy needs her, Christina Needs her, Izzie needs her, george needs her..and alex..well he seems undesided.. Some many love lifes would be changed in the show and cut shonda some slack here in order to get people to watch you have to make them sick, and cry their hearts out. Its a win or lose situation...whatever happens, just happens we all have to wait a week and come on here to complain cuz shes gone or celebrate because they saved her.
Lets just tune in

Through MANY speculations that I have read I have come to this conclusion. In all reality if they killed Mereidth off they would lose ratings. Serious ratings. They wouldn't do that. The want people to WATCH the show...not swear off of it because they killed off a main character. And the whole killing her off to do the narraiton only is way to friggin much like Desperate Housewives. I do have SOME faith in ABC to come up with different storylines for their shows. The guy that played Denny is coming back as another character. I don't really understand the motive for this since reality it would send Issy into the pysch ward to hang with the people in the white jackets, if you catch my drift. And because they had the actor return as Denny in Meredith's dead-thinger. I have no idea where they'll be going with that one. Also I watched an interveiw with the actress that plays Issy and she said that not one but TWO people are going to die before the end of the next episode. But when they say die do they mean figurativly (sp??)? Or dead as in deceased. Not coming back. A corpse. In reality I seriously thought the black guy under the car was going to die. But I also agree with pervious statements that Ellis Grey is going to die. Her storyline has been told and done but I believe that Meredith will be a different person once her mother dies. Won't have to feel so uptight or so tied down to her mother. Or worried that her mother will come back to reality again. I think Ellis will die, big effect on the hospitle, then opening of a new study dedicatd to Ellis Grey..blah blah blah. Okay enough said for now

While my husband and I were watching we were coming up with new names for the show just in case Meredith is killed off the show...and the one we liked the best is "McDreamy Anatomy. Also, maybe Meredith has been talking to us this whole time from the beyond. This is the way Desperate Housewives is, but we knew from the beginning that the person talking was already dead. Would be intereseting how they place this off.

Well, when Izzie cut the wire, I thought, well, this is so thrilling, Shonda cannot do any better in future, whats she gonna do in the 3rd season? Well, I was sooo wrong! I almost had a heart attack watching this ep. I just keep on assuring myself, she cannot die, can she?
It makes me think she cant, cos shes the leading character, right, but on the other hand, what about all that stuff about shonda saying someone will die, and that something that nobody expects will happen? Im confused! But as it has been said here, I dont wanna watch this show without Meredith. Cos it just wont be my favorite show anymore cos it cant be without my favorite character… Meredith wake up, even if it wouldnt be possible in real life, in this stage of my love for GA, I just dont care!!!!

as soon as the show came on, i started to cry!!!!!!they cant kill Mer!! this show is about her! or else it would be called "McDreamy's Anatomy" or something else!! come on, they cant just kill her off like that! i was so happy for Izzie though!! being taken off suspension! good news! but next thursday is not here soon enough! every day i will be counting down till thursday night!!!!!

Grey's Anatomy Quotes

CRISTINA: "There's a club. The Dead Dads Club. And you can't be in it until you're in it. You can try to understand, you can sympathize. But until you feel that loss... My dad died when I was nine. George, I'm really sorry you had to join the club."
GEORGE: "I... I don't know how to exist in a world where my dad doesn't."
CRISTINA: "Yeah, that never really changes."

MEREDITH: "You don't get to call me a whore. When I met you, I thought I had found the person that I was going to spend the rest of my life with. I was done! All the boys and all the bars and all the obvious daddy issues, who cares? I was done. You left me. You chose Addison. I'm all glued back together now. I make no apologies for how I chose to repair what you broke. You don't get to call me a whore."
DEREK: "This thing with us is finished. It's over."
MEREDITH: "Finally."
DEREK: "Yeah, it's done."
MEREDITH: "It is done."
